Not wanting to sound like a negative Nancy, but who wants to guess that the Ultramarine one will be the best one, practically negating any incentive to take the other ones?

Unless there are "general" formations I'm guessing the UM one is gonna be that Intercessor veteran formation they talked about initially

Do we know anything about this formation?

Don't get your hopes up, unless you are talking GCS of bugs. According to the rumors from Vigilus Day, there are only formations for the forces at Vigilus. No Tyranids, just Genestealer Cults.

Could we start reprimanding or doing something about comments like this? This is ridiculous, is old school "flaming", adds nothing to the thread, and makes implications that have zero basis in fact.

Are you sure you responded to the post you meant to respond to? I do not see at all how that would qualify as a flame or a troll on the face of it, just someone sharing what is coming out of the rumor mill.

It would only be a troll of the poster knew for a fact that CA/Vigilus would publish formations for forces not involved in the Vigilus event, and even then alextroy isn't even implying that there won't be other formation releases in the future.

However, in typical GW fashion, I do fully expect some of these to be broken - but that's been happening in the codices anyway so I don't see much change there. As a narrative gamer I applaud this kind of stuff and would love to see more of it.

Back to the dark days of WH40K: Decurion?

Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you.

Who knows for sure how GW does balance but likley they have a few drinks together at bugman's brewery, get an idea, and go ya, that seems about right in terms of balance. Poof, done. Results may vary.

That sounds really stupid and unprofessional. This would mean they talk only about the stuff they like or stuff they really hate. Armies they don't care about would never get improved rules then.

If centurions get a BEEFY point drop I could see this being pretty good with them. I think this is a pretty well done detachment as it is fluffy and provides some alright bonuses, but at a balanced cost. It's not an auto take and nothing that catapults Fists to the #1 spot automatically. Making your own cover is solid and centurions firing a volley of bolters at a vehicle all causing mortal wounds on 6s is alright. It's an easy two-four mortal wounds on average depending on range with the hurricane bolters alone. A primaris dread is also a solid candidate for this. Shame it does nothing against monsters, but oh well.

I don't know that is the case of course and even if true, it's a game and they are human. That said, it explains about 99% of any game imbalance issues.

With the point drops for the dreadnoughts being nice (10 base not counting the 5 points for lascannons and missiles) and the big boy point drop of 40 points for dev centurions I can see this detachment being pretty solid. A bundle captain (re-roll 1s hit/wound) for these guys on top of the bolter drill and 6s to wound are mortal wounds there is some very solid synergy here with dakka mode centurions or even redemptors or the double twin heavy bolter mortis dread. Add in that they ignore cover and there is some serious anti-vehicle hate this little group can bring.

The warlord trait provided is also really good if you are running a lot of infantry in this detachment or even just imperial fists as a whole. Being able to make your own cover has some really good synergy with centurions and devs who are happy to sit back and make pew pew noises all day.
