Is it a bad game though? People actually playing it seem to like it. Most everything I hear is that there's stuff not in it, which.... the lying thing is the most irritating armchair expert silliness I've seen, but its not worth arguing at this point. Frankly I'm just tired of the internet and its nonsense.
Liking something doesn't make it good.
To paraphrase Ben Crowshaw: It's like enjoying listening to someone sing out of tune or reading books covered in brown sauce. I know it's your opinion but your opinion is WRONG!

Why would you expect the undefeated champion who gets lost all the time to NOT have a kid show like personality trait like that?
Bugs that delete your saves? Who here remembers missing no?
This is just stock standard pokemon.
Missingno. was over 25 years ago and it didn't mess with other games. I'll say it again: this is the most profitable franchise on Earth. It beats out Star Wars. It beats out Marvel. It beats out Hello Kitty. There's no reason there should be bugs that eat your hardware (which Missingno. didn't do unless you're purposely trying to do arbitrary code execution with it, and even then you can just restart the game), and there's no reason that there's so much unfinished BS, other than them squeezing the game into too short a development cycle, even after cutting 400+ Pokémon.
And, as BaconCatBug said, it's perfectly possible to acknowledge that something is flawed and like it anyway. There's a bunch of flaws in SwSh.
For instance, why can't every Centiscorch Gigamax? The entire point is to go on a journey with Pokémon you raised, except here's GameFreak telling me that my Centiscorch is genetically inferior and isn't allowed to have fun. They've finally fixed the competetive access through Mints and Bottle Caps, and they add in a new gate to playing with your favourites?* Gah!

So..... Pokemon.
Favorites have never held up beyond the campaign (and realistically, not even in the campaign because of limited dex access before the E4). Much like the real world, once you get out of the sandbox you need superior genes through selective breeding programs in which most of your siblings will be sent to meat processing facilities and heavy doses of performance enhancing drugs. At least, that's what trying to like Pokemon competitively has taught me.

1) missing no. Survived to gen 3. 2) iam not saying it isnt flawed.i am saying this is how its been for 25 years. Why is it NOW that everyone is getting upset?
These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

Yes, but they JUST fixed that. And then reintroduced it after fixing it.
And there wasn't mouse cursors in the end credits of old Pokémon games. You could turn off the Exp Share in old Pokémon games. There was a GTS in old Pokémon games. And so on, and so on.

Apparently Pokémon Sword and Shield knock out Roku TVs because they communicate wirelessly in such a similar way that the TV interprets the communications from SwSh as updates, and then (of course) promptly crashes. This isn't anyone's fault, obviously, but it's ginormously bad luck.

I think the best entry of the series I ever played has been this one, though I missed games like Diamond/Pearl/Black/White1+2
Last game I played before X/Y was Emerald, so...
I'm kind of liking (so far, at least) that there isn't some end of the world plot going on, it's just a bunch of kids going on an adventure. It's a kids game, like it always has been, but it's kind of charming in that way.

The WIld Area is fantastic. In the top left hand corner is an area separated by a small lake (lake outrage?). When you go to the section of land there is a ring of standing stones. Each stone spawns a evolution stone daily(?) and each day so far I have found a different evee evolution next to it. Pretty great.
The weather effects impact not just what pokemon are in the grass but what pokemon wonder around. I scope out that entire place every day and manage to catch at least a few new things each time. I am up to 310 pokemon on sword. and have captured many whole evolutionary lines in the wild area. Including several pokemon that you normally need to trade or trade with held item etc etc...
It's great just catching a Steelix (one of the more common ones) and a Ryperior and a Machamp. and a Gengar.
BTW I have Sword and the grass starter. If anyone else who got it has Shield and/or any of the other starters and want to trade for version exclusives/other starters hit me up with a PM and lets get some trades going.

Personally I find the Wild Area, or more specificly Max Raid Battles, incredibly tedious. Having to farm Watts to then be allowed a chance to find the Pokémon you want, with a chance to get the Hidden Ability or a Gigantamax form, is just... argh. I don't understand why they had to go and make Gigantamaxing non-breedable. Like, I understand that they want it to be an achievement of sorts, but why not let any Butterfree Gigantamax once you've caught one that can? Why limit it to such a ridiculous degree when they've spent three generations making competetive Pokemon more accessible?
And I sure hope you don't want a Gigantamax Pokémon with its Hidden Ability, because if you do, have "fun".
On the upside, Appletun might be the most pleasant surpise for me so far. I thought it looked pretty adorable in its own dorky way before I even saw it in-game, but finding out that what looks like ears is actually its eyes? To put it in meme, "I've only had Appletun for two minutes, but if something happened to it I'd kill everyone in this room and then myself":
For thirteen years I had a dog with fur the darkest black. For thirteen years he was my friend, oh how I want him back.
Well any pokemon CAN gigantimax. They just don't all have unique forms with special moves.
Personally I have been using them to farm the EXP items and Pokemon I haven't found yet (got a Trevnant from one). When I start breeding my team leveling it up will take minutes with those items.

Dynamaxing and Gigantamaxing are different. Every Pokémon can Dynamax, but not every Pokémon can Gigantamax. I'm fine with that. What I'm not fine with is some Butterfree being able to Gigantamax and some being unable to, with the only way to get one that can being catching one through Max Raid Battles. It breaks the idea of playing with the Pokémon you went on your journey with just as they'd finally made such Pokémon salvagable through reverse-tutoring Egg moves to parents, mints, and bottlecaps. If they'd made it an item that let you Gigantamax any Butterfree but you had to earn it by defeating and catching a Gigantamax Butterfree then fine, but as it is now you can have a Butterfree with you through the entire game that you then have to shelve because it can't Gigantamax. Since it isn't breedable either it's going to cause massive headaches if you want to combine it with a hidden ability.
Take Appletun as an example. I'm never going to be able to Gigantamax the Appletun I'm playing through the game with, because GameFreak decided I'm not allowed to. I could go farm for a Gigantamax Appletun, but it likely wouldn't have its hidden ability Thick Fat, which is much better than the other two options (Gluttony and Ripen).
All in all I feel Gigantamaxing is a little restrictive considering it's one of the big flashy mechanics of gen 8.

How much does any of it actually matter though? Gigantimaxing isn't a crazy component of the meta is it? It can only happen in specific circumstances and under specific conditions (mostly gym fights). I haven't fought any other players yet so unsure if dynamaxing is even a thing there.
So lets just say that you can in fact dynamax in pvp.
Okay, are the unique moves more powerful/out of balance with the dynamax moves? Is it actually game breaking to not have the unique forms? I honestly don't know the answers to those at this stage since I haven't seen a list of the moves and thir effects yet.

Most of the Gigantamax move I've seen are sidegrades, so balance-wise it's not too huge of a deal, but it's flat-out bizarre from a design point of view.
Cramorant has also been a pleasant surprise; I thought it was going to be lousy based on its base stats, but its ability is surprisingly useful.

I need to did into it some. Part of me wrote the whole thing off after most of the Mega Evolutions turned out to be a smaller buff than a Life Orb.
