The Gods can ally with each other, but only for brief moments. It is in their nature to fight each other, and they cannot fight their nature.

True. I guess it would come down to how long can the salty boys stay focused. I don't see chaos waging a long war with the nids however. If a response came from them it would most certainly be on the brink of annihilation and by then, perhaps too late. Im afraid the imperials and the good guys are on their own for most of this.

The CSM codex tells that AL turned to Horus because they had a distant relationship with the emperor and they admired the present war master Horus. It was their martial pride that was their down fall. That’s it and that’s totally contradictory to the BL HH novels. So which is correct

The codex really wastes a lot of pages talking about non BL legions, I don’t know why they bothered considering the GWs love of producing I’ve priced books they should have just done supplements.

I think the GW painted themselves into a corner with the AL being so compelling in the HH but to complex to deliver in the 6 pages they are given in the codex.

It also does not confirm that alparius died or mention the name omegon

It goes without saying that the legion of current times is not the legion of the heresy. This goes for each of the legions. The codex does a fine job presenting the AL as they are. Which is a band of real arseholes. They summon demons, confirmed, multiple entries. They have demon princes in positions of leadership. The have no problems using ANY and all tools to wreck the imperium. This is official. You cant get more solid than a army codex.

Truth be told, most legions are far more nuanced and detailed then what is presented in the 8th edition codex. But the codex is a great base line. In the end, while I see the possibility for head canon AL loyalists, they would be a very small and very isolated warband. You cant just "use" chaos. You don't summon demons and wreck entire sectors of the galaxy without the majority of your legion being some cold imperial hating mother**kers.
