It still boggles my mind that anyone has paid for this piece of junk at all. It's hilariously, meme-worthy bad. Even by GW's normal standards, it is pretty shocking they are still charging people a monthly fee for it, given how embarrassingly unready it still is...five months after the date we were supposed to have an army builder.

GW could sell used toilet paper and would will sell out if they stamped an Aquila. I can't think of a single fandom or consumer base who is as forgiving/willing to accept glaring problems as GW's - it's really no wonder they do so well financially.

WWE is another one.

WWE doesn't also expect you to buy crummy books for $50 though.

PPV Events?

Pretty much equivalent to any PPV event (I certainly didn't think the last Mayweather fight was worth the cost) but I suppose that is handled with everyone chipping in for a good old fashioned party much akin to the Super Bowl (albeit the latter is free).

Meanwhile the Necron Codex was found to have spelling errors. Theres clearly a level of difference in professionalism with most PPV events compared to buying Codices.

The MyWarhammer site won’t even let me make an account for the app, so I guess I won’t be getting it.

Apparently you can't put a datasheet in your list if you don't have the codex unlocked via a code.

It still wouldn't let me download the app without putting all my CC info in, rather than just expiring after the trial... Decided I wasn't going to do that.

We're gonna need another Timmy!

Nothing in that article looks like a good army list builder. I saw some screen shots of datasheets that included a paragraph of text about wargear options.

At the top I saw some gak about a patrol detachment. But I couldn't tell which slot was selected, which slot was being viewed, if any of those units being shown were selected as part of the detachment, which wargear options had been selected or how you even select them.

They showed us basically nothing about it's functionality. Pretty much par for the course with GW. A few pretty pictures to cover up that nothing of substance exists at all.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

Tried using the builder for the first time today and aside from some functionality and missing options I was pretty impressed.
I built a quick craftworlds battalion and spearhead force with no issues.
It needs to add in loptions ike psychic powers, exarch powers, custom craftworlds etc but building the list in app was really nice, I wish I could copy units but that's about it really.
The most important thing, potentially, is how useful this app could be from a balance perspective. Assuming gw can capture data from the list it should be relatively easy to see units that are being spammed, so probably undercosted. Or units that are rarely/never taken, so probably overcoated/in need of other help.
Hopefully gw use the app in this way since it's the best chance of getting more balanced unit costs there is.

There have been updates that make the app a bit more useful as a list builder. Now you can see the stat-line for units in codexes you havent purchased, just not their datasheet abilities, warlord traits, relics, etc...

You can add and configure units that you don't have the codex for, but again you wont see their datasheet abilities, warlord traits, relics, etc...

Personally, I am not a fan of Battleforge, and would not use it as my list builder unless it was a tournament requirement. I object to having to pay a monthly subscription in addition to the cost of buying the codexes, especially for the (lack of) quality in this app.

I wouldnt use it even if BattleScribe wasnt an option. Since BatteScribe does exist, not using this app is a no-brainer.

I’m with you. I also miss the ePub codices from last edition. They seem to have taken away ebook codices to push us to use the app, which is not an acceptable substitute.

Similarly, the battle forge is an “okay” tool at this point, but Battlescribe does it better without the monthly subscription. I worry that they are gearing up to go after third party list building apps, which will leave us swinging in the breeze.

I saw the review on the app by 2+ tough, even him, usually a GW favorable reviewer had some rather negative comment about the app in this current stage. I’ll pass and stick with my AB or battlescribe.
