The end is near.
And so it is time to look back.
I did some miniatures this year, all Space Marines besides some cultists. I started with some Lamenters, switched to Emperors Children and finally settled with Imperial Fists. All based on the MKIII armour and the revisions of vehicles in use at the time of the Heresy.
I decided to do so even before the new HH came out, content to play 40k with "old fashioned" models. When HH 2.0 hit the streets, I needed no convincing to give it a try and I'm happier with it than with 40k.
So this is most of what I painted in 2022.
That's 403 models plus the buildings which form the border at the back of the army.
There was more of course; the odd model you do for complementing some other army and of course some models that got later replaced, because of changes in style, weapon or costume. All in all it were about 450 models, not counting buildings.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
May your mound of pride grow and your pile of shame shrink.

My brother wanted to visit for the Christmas Holliday, but only Corona showed up.
So I had some time to redo the Vindicator.
A redo, because I did a Vindicator probably half a year ago. But it was not a very inspired model and was missing the characteristic front shield.
This time I printed 3, because I want to test them in Horus Heresy. I've been told they are very bad, but I'm not convinced yet.
The new model has no bulldozer shield either, but there are magnets under the canon shield, that allow the attachment of one, once I design one.
I also painted and printed 10 Recon troopers, so on the 8th, I've done 13 models (14 really, but one is in fact not 3D printed) in 2023, but who's counting ?

That's awesome. Vindicator looks great and it looks like you painted more in 2022 than I did in the past decade, lol.

Rapier, Rapier on the wall, who is the shootiest of them all ?
The Quad-Bolter obviously. 8 Shots twin linked for 40 points.
As I did the Graviton variant of the Rapier and some Heavy Bolters before, it was not really difficult to combine them.
The chassis is nigh identical to the one for the Graviton, the opening for the guns is just a bit higher.
In Chitubox, you see that tracks an Bolters a separate from the rest.
To be able to spray paint them in silver and finish them off before assembling everything quickens the paint job immensely.
No surprises with the paint job.
The models for the crew are the same as for the Gravitron. I thought about making variants, but nobody I play against would realise when they'd be different. And I must admit that I do not care either at the moment. Probably I do a variant, when I run out of things to do.

"Divide et impera". I'm done with the dividing the reigning I'm still working on.
In fact these are not all the parts. The tracks are separate parts, so I can paint them more easily. The little fenders above the sponsons are also separate parts. The hull with fenders attached will not fit on the build plate of my printer, so ...
The Volkites are a lease from the Predator. Predator, Sicaran and now Kratos use the same sponsons. The main-weapon and the weapons in the little turrets will get magnets. The sponsons have always magnets. I tried something new with the muffler. Usually I have two tubes, one going in and one going out. This one rides on a single tube.
I'm very much content for the first prototype. There are 3 errors, which I already corrected in the file, but I'm not sure I will print another Kratos. Probably just for the sake of having a model of the "correct" version.
PS.
The first model I did with Blender, some change in procedure, lots of idiosyncrasies and lots of little annoying things that drive me crazy. Like always with new software, once your used to it, it will be not even half as bad.

I'm an old fart. I can remember the time when families counted more humans than pets. In those days family meetings were common; often on a Sunday for coffee and cake. These don't exist anymore. Too much caffein the one, too much sugar the other.
Yesterday in this tradition members of the family tree met probably for gas and kerosine instead for coffee and cake.
On the left; the black sheep of the family; the non 3D-print. We love him anyway.

Neat. I love your consideration for ease of printing and painting.
Did you do the Kratos yourself?

Yes, I do all models, I print, myself.
The Kratos is the first model I did in Blender.
I try to switch from Cinema 4D to Blender for license policy reasons - I just hate Subscription.

Looks more accurate than the STL that is commercially available. A loss to humanity that you don't share/sell your work.

Despite Easter holiday I've got some work done. Finished the prototype for the new project.
Prototype because there is no interior, the canopy is opaque, there are support pimples at visible places, the landing gear is just glued on and not seated correctly, etc.
I painted it anyway to get an idea what it will look like.

Damn that's cool. Great job on the gunship!
That's a thing I love about this medium, actualizing dream projects that would take so much more time to do in classic DIY crafting, especially if multiples are desired.

I agree.
For me the best about 3D design & 3D printing is that I can do all the thinks I was not talented enough to do with green stuff.
