Finally finished some Deathwatch Veterans.

Unfortunately I made a mistake, I used Mephiston Red rather than Khorne Red for most of the reds elements. Given the amount of work, I threw up my hands and decided to live with it, though I did correct the sergeant's cloak.

Note that these minis were built over a year ago, though I did disassemble the (former) Blackshield to make him the sergeant with a Xenophase Blade and combi-weapon. I really doubt the 10th edition index loadouts - or points costs - will persist into the Codex (or future editions), so I wasn't going to try to equip a ton of combi-weapons (Long Vigil Ranged Weapons). The point of this unit was to give me a base of Veterans I can expand with weapon options going forward. I figured that since the storm shield guys were likely to die first tanking the big shots, giving them a bolter made more sense than a power weapon (Long Vigil Melee Weapon).

Basic sword and bolter Veterans to get the job done and be basically future proof.

I've literally got a second identical squad built and unprimed for the future, though I think I need a bit of a break from DW Veterans at the moment.

This is an awesome army, the different armour types all look very cool in black.

Time for some Deathwatch Eradicators!

Like my Assault Intercessors, these were from the Indomitus box, and had to have shoulder surgery to put DW shoulderpads in place. Not a difficult job, aside from the regular problem that DW terminator shoulderpads come 2 to an upgrade pack. It's also why there's no multi-melta in the squad.

Dark Hunters, Sable Knights, Angels Redeemed chapters. I'm a little bit rusty on the freehand chapter badges but they came out all right.

But I do love those terminator shoulderpads for the Deathwatch.

It's October, so it's time for spooky stuff. How about TERROR TROOPS!

Yep, it's Reivers. Yep, they suck, though they might suck a bit less now that you can't use the strat to ignore Battleshock as much. But who cares, they look cool. Also, they have insane vertical movement, so at least they have a niche function.

Blazoned Legion, Angels of Defiance, Blood Scythes, Angels Eradicant, Atlantean Spears. The cool red stripe on the grav chutes makes them easier to pick out on the table.

Also, I did the Phobos Lieutenant from Shadowspear to give me something to attach to Phobos Units.

I think I have like 10 more Reivers b/c GW was throwing them in every box they could for a time. I'll probably use the spare parts from an Infiltrators box to make Incursors or something.

He's from the Iron Ravens. The eyes turned out OK! It only took 2 tries!

I didn't bother carving off his shoulderpad, I don't think I could have gotten enough clearance near the gun. That and it's a lot scarier chopping up an expensive character model rather than a cheap ETB one!

Games Workshop is a funny beast. They no longer like to offer options that don't come in the kit...

...unless it's a Captain with Jump Pack with Thunderhammer and Relic Shield. Then kitbashes are A-OK.

With the ever popular Deathwatch shield and Grey Knight Terminator Nemesis Force Hammer to serve as conversion fodder (along with Intercessor arm part #54 to hold the shield), this conversion was really easy and the fitting on the jump pack is such you don't even need to glue it in place (though I eventually did, once it was painted).

No chapter badge, it's buried behind an Imperial Eagle.

Smashing Smash Captain! The conversion bits meshed in really well. The Eradicators and Reivers look great too

Thanks! The hardest part of this conversion was finding the best arm for the shield. The Jump Captain uses Assault Intercessor style arms for their melee weapons and I'd have to carve the crap out of that to make the shield fit. By comparison, the thunder hammer was just "Remove hand, position weapon". I probably should have removed the pistol holster, but I was lazy.
