I have (painted and based to tabletop standard) at 2000+ points: Chaos Knights Blood Angels Space Wolves Wold Eaters Black Legion Khorne Demons Adeptus Mechanicus Tyranids Not painted, I have a HUGE salamanders army that I'm beginning to work on. *special note, about half of those armies are just at 2000 points or maybe 2100 or 2200 points, I have a tendency to "build a list, buy a list, paint a list, play the hell out of the list"

I voted for 4+ but I’m not 100% sure I have a full 1500pts of Necrons. I just started collecting them with the indomitus set. But I do have the following well in excess of 1500pts
Dark Angels
Imperial knights
Tyranids

Dark Angels at 16.000 points (This is an estimate based off on an old count of mine)
Craftworlds at 12.000 points
Tyranids at 11.000 points
Drukhari at 10.000 points
Death Guard at 8000 points
Sisters of Battle at 5000 points(lots of old metal)
Necrons at 4000 points
Chaos Knights at 3000 points
Orks at 3000 points
Of these my Craftworlds, Death Guard and Drukhari have probably the most amount of painted, and Dark Angels the least. Currently working on Orks. Some are painted as I bought them when players were quitting, but I don't count them as painted unless I have added my touch to it.

I’ve only one army that’s at least 1500 points (Blood Angels) but it’s not playable because it’s not all been assembled (let alone painted, which I like to do before fielding anything). Two armies at around 1000 points in addition (Death Guard and Necrons).

None.
For me 1500 pts is a very large army and not practical.

I voted 2.
I've got @ 20,000 points of painted Craftworld.
I recently built a second army, Necrons, and have @ 2,200 points built and @ 1700 painted.
I also have @ 1000 painted of Dark Angels, but really shelved that army due to lack of interest. I don't really enjoy playing Marine armies.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby. |

Armies over 1500pts
Orks (think it was 17000 last time I added it all up in 7th)
Dark Angels
Thousand Sons
Imperial Inquisitor with Guard and Knights
On top of that due to family members armies (two eldest lads) I also have access to
Necrons (Huge army, catching up with my Orks)
Tyranids
Death Guard
Genestealer Cult
Also sitting under the 1500pt mark but growing on the sly (* are mine, other wise family owned, three eldest boys and other half)
Iyanden Craftworld
Wych Cult of the Pain Eternal *
Black Legion *
Ultramarines
Space Wolves
Sisters of Battle
Adepticus Custodes
Ad Mech
Slaanesh Demons * (waiting for Emperors Children)

Two Armies.
8K Black Templars. All Painted and Based
2K Dark Eldar. All Painted. Nothing is based - yet
Note: I have NO grey pile of shame. Nothing is assembled until it's ready to paint.
Of course the downside is that I could probably open a Gaming Store since I have sooooo many unopened kits LOL

By these standards, I have two armies for sure; IG and non-specific SM. Technically Inquisition too, but that's really just throwing an Inquisitor onto one of those. I may also have 1.5k CSM built for play, but I'm not sure on the points count for built only.
The SM are pretty well varied within the First Born and likely closer to 3k play ready, but the IG would probably be fluffy and terrible even pushing 2k play ready. Most of the IG points value comes from massed old metal infantry and HWTs with just a few tanks and mixed support vehicles to back them up. No Chimeras yet, amusingly, so those infantry would truly be the definition of cannon fodder.

Ready 1500 points I have:
Orks (way more than 1500)
Marines
Chaos
Necrons
I have a lot of unbuilt stuff, but that's ready to go.
I actually have way more stuff ready for fantasy gaming...(Orcs, Goblins, Ogres, Undead, Elves, Humans, Demons, Dwarves)

I have 4 fully painted armies.
Orks - collected over 20 years
IG - 3rd party miniatures and green stuff- Collected in less than a year started April 2020
Primaris Blood Angels - Started and almost finished in about a year and a half
First Legion. - Collected over about 2 or 3 years.
I have no desire to collect another army at this point. I plan to add a little more to my IG army, not impressed with the new Ork models yet. I'd like to buy a bit more for my First legion, maybe I'll do that one day.
My Primaris army is essentially finished after I paint 10 Heavy Intercessors and maybe buy an ATV or two.

Well, in another thread (about Necrons) a hypothesis was that most players have 3 armies at hand for game play.
The poll shows that about 55% have 1 to 3 armies while 45% have more than 3 armies.
So this claim is not quite true.

Not really. During 7th I had only one army, orks, and they were completely unplayable. I simply quit the game.
Nowadays I have two armies which immensely contributed to my enjoyment of the game, but I still think that this isn't the norm.
Well - I already knew the answer - saw the poll over 2 years ago. As you can see - About half the community has 4 or more armies.

The claim was the average number of armies is 3. Plenty of those 4 or more army people have more than 4 armies too - So the average is 3. Another way to say it is - the majority of players have 3 or more armies (18%+45% = 63%) have 3 or more armies.
