Thank you so much everyone. I'm enjoying them.

Up next is a rather lovely model, a Warlord from a Mantic direct order.

I'll be sure and post when completed.

Cheers, and let's see your Firefight / Deadzone hobby progress!

I painted up this Jotunn for this month's Dakka Painting Challenge:

I mostly play Deadzone, so it won't be seeing a lot of time on the table, but it's one more finished model, and that's what counts.

Now showing more Samurai Marines, Bad Squiddo Amazons, and an Oldhammer Chaos Thug!

Painting total as of 3/28/2024: 21 plus a set of modular spaceship terrain

Painting total for 2023: 79 plus 28 Battlemechs and a Dragon-Balrog

Mostly, on my phone.

Hola! More Enforcer jetbikes, because rocket launchers are monstrously good.

The one on the left has the replacement fin that I built from plasticard. Very pleased.

And indeed, more Enforcer, more glow.

Resin direct order Captain with claws. Only way to get this cc tank. I've got some Tartarus termie claws so I can build a full unit, as there's no other official sculpt for them.

Wee group shot.
I've got 2 pathfinder monocycles left to do and then onto kitbash the clawed Peacekeeper team, plus I'm partway through a Tunnel Runnel (monowheel of death) for my Veer-Myn - that, at least, should be finished this month, though I'm not going to stress.

Those look fantastic! and that direct order captain is a nice model, he may go on my wish list. Cheers and let's see what comes later.

Ok just now finding this after getting back into my Mantic models and starting to get a bit of paint on.

I’m contemplating getting the Firefight book, and Deadzone, as both have changed editions since I last had the rules etc.

Is there an army builder app/website that has current points totals etc if I am to plug in what I currently have to see what I’m working with?

I’m not sure whether the sizes I have would really work.

Secondly, tactically, how would any factions play without really having vehicles? I’ve got lots of troops from the warpath KS. But I sold off or repurposed the vehicles.
Most I have are a couple of weapons platforms for Veermyn and Forge Fathers.
Plenty of big hitters for Plague models wise though potentially.

Vehicles are far from essential. THere is a new army builder app from Mantic, and iirc it's still free. Both games are excellent.

I thought they did a free one way back but when I went to the Mantic army builder site yesterday I could only see all this subscription stuff. Maybe I missed the free portion.

I used to use Quartermaster and Battlescribe for stuff. If they’re still on the go and still used for Mantic I could look at those if not.

Yeah vehicles I’d rather not delve back in with, at least until I know whether I want to really go all out or not.
See where the points take me first etc.

the Mantic Army Builder is still free, you just need an account which is independent from the subscription

As for vehicles: we have a couple of the big flyers (I play Enforcers, my spawn Asterians) though they're far from necessary, particularly in 1k-1.5 games.

I notice that the Digital Rulebook lists itself as having seven factions-but there are eight factions, now.

It seems like it requires a subscription to view the Mazon stuff.
Not sure how I feel about that.

you can access the Beta rules via the free list builder
it will show all the rules for Mazon Labs there without subscription (unlike for the other armies)

Ah, it will?
Excellent. Thanks for the knowledge.

Edit: It references rules not available without the main book or subscription.
The main book is only $35 digital, so I might snag that.

Edit II: Command Dice. Is there a chart or lookup in the main rulebook or somewhere that'd let me use normal d8s in place of them, for now?

I don't believe so, but you could take a pen and paper and design one. Sounds like a hassle -- are dice out of stock?

No, but I'm not a patient person, and shipping times are blech.
Someone else actually provided the info I needed, though.

Command dice are D6 and there is a chart as those are the same as the Vanguard Power Dice or Hellboy dice (Red=Black, White=Orange and Blue=Green)

(I made some out of blank D6 and different coloured markers)
