You are wrong,
The MoP is not responsible for putting daemons in engines. He is responsible for putting daemons in people. Infact it's warpsmiths that do the former and they have a kind of schism over that becaue MoP are regarding daemons as something that is to be respected atleast, whilest Warpsmiths regard daemons as cheap and easy fuel / pilots, which leads to some massive differences.
When they work together, then in general you get venomcrawlers, which are in essence parasites/ fuel silos for forges and warp energy.
If anything that means that Warpsmiths should be in the DG dex.

I'm fairly sure that this has specifically been mentioned in the MoP's fluff in shadow spear and that warp smiths don't have a place in the DG army because their creations keep rotting away/turning into flesh.
It's also worth noting that MBH and drones are just nurgle dameons bound into fat larvae which then get armored and upgunned and don't really work like a defiler does. There are no sources on this topic for the PBC, but in general it is assumed that nurgle daemons actually enjoy being bound to their engines.
In any case, DG also do have possessed, so he would fit anyways.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

Nope, shadow spear p 7 explains it fairly well in the daemonkin booklet.
they can cooperate, are doing so mostly if someone tells them too, however one the MoP is in essence a spirtual figure and believes in mutation whilest the other the warpsmiths are pretty hostile to that idea and basically either iron warriors or iron warrior slogan adopters.

So no, the MoP certainly doesn't fit the PBC, it fits at most the larvae, which however considering that MoP's from a lore standpoint are obsolete since anyone can technically make pacts, they just streamline the "experience" and make it easier. Hence why Warpsmiths can just as much run "fleshy " dinobots.

Further in regards to possessed, again you don''t NEED an MoP (cue khorne daemonkin f.e.) to get possessed, they just make it easier, technically anyone with enough souls to bargain with or some psy talent is good enough to facilitate a possession.

If you really want an argument then you'd have to take both, which tbh should be the case in the first place, because even DG had techmarines....

But GW being GW decided to NOPE out, even though they want to push daemonengines.

A Mostly Renegades and Heretics blog.
GW:"Space marines got too many options to balance, therefore we decided to legends HH units."
Players: "why?!? Now we finally got decent plastic kits and you cut them?"
Chaos marines players: "Since when are Daemonengines 30k models and why do i have NO droppods now?"
GW" MONEY.... erm i meant TOO MANY OPTIONS (to resell your army to you again by disalowing former units)! Do you want specific tyranid fighiting Primaris? Even a new sabotage lieutnant!"
Chaos players: Guess i stop playing or go to HH.

I think the faction is ok. There are several units that works, even in the tournament meta.

A few other factions are definitely easier to play, more forgiving, more supported, beginner friendlier, etc... or simply flat out more powerful, but orks are in their best state since over a decade, probably even more than two decades, as and I'm not even sure they are significantly worse than how they were in late 4th-5th as well, when they reached their peak.

They might not dominate but they still get decent results against pretty much everyone.

Ranking armies w.r.t. competitiveness is somewhat related to release date.
For this, I rate my beloved Necrons very low.
