It wasn't just the SAS, most of the 8th Armoured (Desert Rats and so on) had pink tanks that the sun quickly bleached into the sand color we see in pictures. That's why modeling them is a pain. Do you paint them in the Pink they were painted, or do you paint them the washed out sand color they became after a few months in Western Africa...

I couldn't recall if WW2 'desert pink' was actually pink. As you mention, it would quickly fade anyway. If anyone was really set on painting their HH Marines pink, I'd suggest they do them in a faded and worn tone.

Also, most models don't match the terrain your fighting in. I've seen tons of really cool soldiers on snow bases... but have never seen a snow board.

True enough. That's actually why I don't do snow bases!

Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.

We have one at the shop. It's mostly blue/white "frozen" & pine trees vs any actual snow drifts ( :( ), but it conveys the idea nicely.
I'll have to remember to take a picture for you the next time it gets set up.

Years ago I had a snow board. White felt with some wire cut, unpainted styrofoam rocks and ridges. Easy build for a 15-16 year old on a budget!

Not ideal, but functional.

So what I'm hearing, is that as long as the paint scheme that fits into the 30k universe, no matter if it's popularly known or from an obscure HH novel- works.
