Streamlined but not to the point of being counterintuitive. There's granularity but not to the point of game bogging RPG level shenanigans. It's by far one of the most complete editions out there.

And as far as OPR? Like every fanmade ruleset it suffers from a lack of restraint. Same reason I wouldn't play T9A or any of the WFB fan runs.

I don't quite get the observation that OPR isn't restrained? Is it that you think they went too far with streamlining?

Out of curiosity, how do you feel about the alternating action sequence?

Hate it. It may be the only thing I hate more than random charge lengths.

Fair enough. OPR definitely took 40kish gaming down to a Song of Blades level of crunch.

That's a big part of what I love about OPR (I like alternating activation also), but I imagine OPR will not be satisfactory to anyone who enjoys the more layered rules of 40k.

My thought would be that every 40k edition suffered from a severe lack of restraint in unnecessary layers of rules, special rules, etc , but going the opposite way isn't going to please allot of folks either.

My terminators are terminators, I will use them. If razorbacks are gone, they are gone, I still have 3 rifleman dreadnoughts, that I bought as part of the whole army deal, I got at the start of 8th ed. I have a Draigo, I hope he won't be removed, but if he is, he will be one of the obligatory GrandMasters/Librarians/etc.

Now I don't know how the modernised GK kits are going to look like as far as sprues goes. Style wise , I expect, they will look like Crow and the modern size.I hope that detail wise, they will look more like primaris BT, then primaris BA.
Now I have a feeling that what ever and how ever GK will look like in 11th (assuming they will get a new look at all), the new boxes are not going to be as good as the kits that already exist.
There is no way modern GW, gives a box that lets you build every here, all support characters, multiple heavy weapons, melee weapons etc All from 2 kits. I expect something like the modern terminator box or intercessor box. There will be a lot of heads and maybe a few bits. Oddly enough if someone has the plastic kits (my dudes are metal), the old kits are going to be great to upgrade modern kits.
Same way the best way to upgrade modern BA or BT is to use parts from classic kits.

If you have to kill, then kill in the best manner. If you slaughter, then slaughter in the best manner. Let one of you sharpen his knife so his animal feels no pain.

I've not touched my marines in years, but if I did revamp them, I would just say that these are squat marines, and watch as my opponent either laughs, and I know the game will be good, or has an aneurism because I didn't throw the expensive models I've bought into the bin at the whim of a fickle company, and know I have done a public service by removing them from the game pool.

Is it a rule that if your opponent has an aneurism, you inherit his miniatures? kind of like the highlander? will this all lead to a quickening with one ultimate gamer remaining? there can be only one!
