I've never bought a pure Forge World kit. I have gotten some Rhino doors, but not a whole kit. I imagine there has to be a lot of flash, bubbles, and warped pieces to fix, and so I was wondering if anyone has built something like this:

I do not know, as far as I know the DARK ELDAR TANTALUS is a fairly rare model.

Guy at my FLGS has one, though its unpainted. Hes brought it a few times as a proxy to justify buying it. Still dont think he shoulda bought it if he never intends to actually use it, its a fair bit bigger than the large barge thingie DE usually use.

I have build it and painted, added in some flavor as well, the hard part of building it was to align the brass floors that it came with, the tiny little spikes it came with was annoying to handle while painting as well.

Thats my issue with both Eldar races - so...many....spikey...bits.... lol. i painted a couple Wraithknights for a friend and i fething hated painting those because of the crap sticking out.

The brass floor thing is spot on.

All of the grating you recieve with the kit are rather sturdy pieces of brass. the hull and railings that go around them have grooves in them to slot the brass floor in, but they dont line up right.
The lower and upper deck are basically 2 halves if you cut it down the center of the vehicle, and cup the floor in between them.

Basically your going to want to do a fair bit of dry fitting and maybe some routing out the groove to make the floor fit better in the grooves.

Other than it goes together extremely fast.


oh.. the sail is a piece of crap, it will be warped and wavy, and its VERY difficult to straighten it. ive straightened mine 7 or 8 times and it still bends back.. irritating.

I have one, its truly a pain in the butt. A lot of small slender bits that tend to break. I used a piece of coat hanger on the over sized sail to give some sturdiness to the connection there. All the little spikes were a PITA to glue on.

It is a cool model but is definitely a transport first, gunship second. Having it outflank a tau suit army is lots of fun though.(rolled the warlord trait, before anyone asks). Unless you absolutely need the transport ability I think a Reaper is a better heavy support choice as are the two aircraft.
