Yeah, not sure this counts as "news" yet and hence warrants a thread in News & Rumours, but the Brets army book is "no longer avaiable" on the GW Webstore. Knights Errant are also "temporarily out of stock" but they could actually be out of stock.

Some will inevitably cry "squat treatment", but I'm optimistic this could mean a release in the near future, possibly after the Orks stuff this month. Or it could be nothing.

Make of it what you will.

Beastmen or Brets are the two that make sense for the next 8th book, and with the current release rate, it's not surprising
The (positive) rumors were stating Brets for July, which would go this way too

I would reckon that they are ready for an update, the book is older than some of the younger players you'll find in War games.

The only race that was ever squatted was the squats, and they were only done so because no one could think of anyway to advance them. Bretonnia are still unique enough to be different and to be allowed to continue.

For the last six months, my local GW only had 1 box of Bret models in stock.

I call Warhammer racism.

I hope so. They need it.

They are still a better army than Beastmen though.

Yeah, I'm actually quite fond of the current Bret book, and I hope they keep the Virtues, the stakes and braziers and the honour-thing that stops characters joining units that don't have a good enough vow

Can't deny that they need an update though, and it'll be interesting to see what GW will do with them, as far as new units are concerned. More knights? Or something different?

Woah. Pretty sure that racism between empire and Bretonnia still exists. And between elves.

You don't even have to go as far as Bretonnia vs Empire. I'm pretty sure that xenophobia between different Empire city states exists.
This is a world that is inspired by medieval Europe as the basis, with loads of magic and races thrown in. The peasantry and most nobles are going to live in the city state they were born in, hardly moving for generations, knowing very little of the other city states but the rumours brought to them by traveling merchants. It's safe to assume they have wild imaginations in regards to how the people of those other city states act and behave. Rumours of Skaven sightings in Altdorf might just be proof to Kislevites that Altdorfians are a superstitious lot that believe in the fairy tales of mothers scaring their sons into line. Maybe Kislevites are known to be quick to anger, making the more controlled Altdorfians find them a brutish sort.

Not to mention that some of the borderlanders probably find the people that dwell in the middle of the country soft, and the planesdwellers think the forestdwellers are hiding in their forests while the forestdwellers think the planesdwellers are just too stupid to be able to live off of the forests and are too afraid of what may lurk in there.

People in the real world still have weird ideas about other cultures, and we have the advantage of enormous information networks.

Woah. Pretty sure that racism... exists... between elves.

Ah... Is that why the High Elves call their kin the Dark Elves? Have I been painting them wrong all this time?

Well, the entire schism between races happened because malekith called bel-Shanaar a 'pale skinned prick'. So, yeah. Racism.

Most of the stock for Bretonnians was supposed to go Direct Order over the past few months.

I'm not surprised that it was done much quicker in the UK than in the US though. Up until a month ago, my local GW still had a few of the Bretonnian battleforces.

We should use this example in an anti-racism campaign...

I thought elves ARE the Warhammer anti-racism campaign.

Looks like a nice model to me! But since when did Bretonnian Lords get around on foot? I reckon it'll be a new elite Special/Rare infantry choice. Footslogging Knights, perhaps? "I shalt walk everywhere by foot. No steed shalt bear me hither. My boots are my sword, and my blister plasters my shield..."

There was a Virtue that allowed you to field them on foot.
