Ok so there are 9 loyalist chapters from the First Founding:

Dark Angels, Blood Angels, Ultramarines, Iron Hands, Raven Guard, Space Wolves, White Scars, Imperial Fists and Salamanders.

The current chapter masters for these in order of above are:

Azrael, Dante, Calgar, Kardan Stronos, Corvian Severax, Logan Grimnar, Jubal Khan, Vorn Hagen and Tu’Shan.

Looking all this up whilst watching Avengers Assemble the other day got me thinking; could I do an unbound army with the 9 ranking officers of the Astarte’s?

This sounded great in my head, nice modelling and painting challenge, and 9 CM’s on the board would be a barrel of laughs. This started my brain racing and this is what I came up with, trying to equip them to represent their chapter traits for those CM’s there are not rules for.

Corvian Severax- CM, AA, JP, 2 LC, Melta Bombs- 200

Vorn Hagen- CM, TA, TH, SS- 200
Tu’Shan- CM, AA Burning Blade- 205

= 2000

So what do people think?
It’s not for tourneys, but it is an army of awesomeness with 9 Orbital bombardments, 3? Eternal warriors, 2+ AS all-round with good inv saves.

It'd certainly be a laugh on the board, and those loadouts look cool. Some serious Fire Support with the OBs on T1

I don't know about all the others but sadly, Azrael does not have the ob.

For fluff purposes the IF CM is usually seen wielding dual TH.

Sounds like a fun idea overall!

I would totally play a green tide Gauntlet challenge against such a list.

yeah but he grants 4++ to everyone who doesn't natively have it. He also grants fearless and preferred enemy csm. He can also give them 6+++ when their within 3" of an objective.

Dante also lacks OB. And everyone having Iron Halos gives everyone 4++ anyway. That's not the point though, it's just the lack of OB that was brough up.

I do remember in an older FAQ where it said that if a character is a chapter master but does not have orbital bombardment specifically listed but is a chapter master it is assumed that they do have orbital bombardment as well, this includes chapter masters of other books as well including dante and azrael.

This was last edition i believe and no longer stated, imho If they are a chapter master they should get it and I would house rule that for anyone i was playing against. For this list i would allow special rules/exceptions of all kinds just because it would be fun to do.

For example Severax has 2 LC and his total points would be 200 but I would cost him 215 and make his LC either AP2 or +1str
