So I finally decided to start collecting Astra Militarum, and want some feedback on my general army structure. First off, I'm planning on running unbound, so that my tanks and artillery can maintain autonomy. Secondly, I plan to run Veterans as my Troops. Said Veterans will be more points heavy, emphasizing staying alive and shooting the enemy apart rather than acting as a one off suicide squad. They will be armed with a Lascannon and Plasma to facilitate dead marines and dead vehicles. I plan to use Taurox transports to provide cheap transport as well as some light anti-armor fire. For an HQ choice I plan to take a Vanquisher Russ with Pask armed to the teeth in high powered weaponry. As point values get higher I will begin supporting my front lines with Basilisk artillery. Anti-air fire will be provided by Firestorm Redoubts. At really high tiers I will add air support. If I should play apocalypse I will use Baneblade tanks and forgo titans, giving preference to the Shadowsword tank. General strategy will be to force and utilize killzones to pick my enemy apart on the defense, while my aggressive tactics focus on using Heavy Armor supported closely by infantry in combined arms strikes. All combats will by supported by artillery bombardment if available, reducing the strength of the enemies front line or bombarding high value targets further back.
