Do Space Marines, and even the Imperium for that matter, care for civilian casualties? If they do what chapter in the Space Marines cares the most for civilians during a battle with xenos, chaos and so on.

It varies by chapter. Some like the Ultramarines, Space Wolves and Salamanders are very considerate of regular humans. Others much less so. Space Wolves started bluin' with the Grey Knights at.. Armageddon? To keep the GKs from purging the humans. The Imperium as an entity cares very little for civilian casualties. If a hive is destroyed, it cares more for the lost manufacturing output and tithe potential than the lives of those lost. At a more personal level, governors care to varying degrees.

Some do some don't. I think the common practice is to look after them a bit.

Salamanders, they took strongly to defending civilians during third Armageddon war, not blue on blue but rebuked other marines.

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all. |

Salamanders. Space Wolves are also reasonable about this. They went out of their way to protect the Imperial Guard regiments that fought during the Armageddon war against the daemon incursions.
