Howdy folks, thought id share a live-ish WIP of horus with you guys.

Doing this as a commission with a fairly modest budget and so I only have a day to paint him. I have done a couple of the other primarchs on a budget before and learned a few lessons so hopefully this guy will be better.

Things I have to consider are how to get the most out of my time so high impact for a relativley short amount of time is key. I have made a plan and this should hopefully help me to get him done efficiently.

So... armed with a quiet sunday studio, an ipod and gallons of diet coke Im going to bash this guy out in a day.

Got him cleaned and assembled yesterday and he is now primed and ready to go.

More pics in an hour or so

ok, this sounds and looks interesting and I'll be stunned and happy with the end result, I bet.

I always feel sad with how long it takes me to paint

Well... finally finished

This guy was actually pretty fun to paint. I stuck to my plan and the more systematic approach really helped keep this guy on time.
For anyone looking to have a go at one of these I would say break it down into sections. There is the cloak and wolf, gold and silver, the orange eyes and then little leather bits and of course the face. Each of these can be treated as an individual element and they all come together in the end. Don't be intimidated by what looks like a busy sculpt.

Feel free to ask any questions and let me know what you like and don't like about it

Fingers crossed the client will like it

Cheers

If your client doesn't like that, they've got something wrong with their eyes For a day's work, that's absolutely stunning, and certainly doesn't look rushed at all.

Yep. I knew I would be sad Looks fantastic for a day's work. Did you even take any breaks besides taking some quick photos?
