looking for a way to convert or other models to use as a command squad that fits in with the WGF shocktroopers.
the army relies on the DV cultist as well so something that ties them together would be a definite bonus.

I don't see a problem so long as they had wysiwyg options easily discernible... not sure what weapons are in the kit, but I don't think you'd *need* tubes going to backpacks to represent hot-shots personally, just suitable special weapons need to be distinguished if present. The aesthetic matches chaos pretty well imo, you might want to look at some random chaos bling to liven them up though. When I checked the models out, I thought they either looked a little bland or the detail a little washed out, something like that.

They'd certainly work, and if you're not using them on the other squads, there's a bigger version of the Laser Rifle that could nicely double as a plasma; you get 1 on each sprue, and 6 sprues in a box, so there'd be plenty to go around.

There's also some alternate heads on there that are meant for chaos players, distorted, scarred and downright chaosy.

I have a few Command Squad conversions of that kit in my project log. The Shock Trooper models take GW Cadian bits pretty easily, so you could probably knock a Command Squad together pretty easily just by making a bits order.

Well, if you're talking about making a commander, there's a sprue in the Shock Troops heavy weapons box that makes a couple of officers. If you mean stuff like a standard, a medic, and a vox-caster, those are all bits you're going to want to source from a Cadian kit as mentioned above.

For my command squad (I also use Shock Troops for my Guard infantry) I used the officer from that sprue with four basic Shock Troopers, because I don't really like the command-squad-only options. I got a vox-caster off a friend to put on the second officer and gave him the binocular hand from the officer sprue to make him a Master of Ordnance.

The WGF HWT set really doesn't scale well with them, so I'd avoid that. Your best bet is to grab a Cadian CCS and use the bits. They mix and match rather well.

thanks guys.

@paradigm - what do you mean about the WGF HWT not scaling well? i was thinking of grabbing one of those next but will avoid it if something is wrong with the scaling.

@skaerkrow - great blog, it really shows what you can do with these guys.

I'm not sure why they did it, but the HWT set is done much closer to 'true scale', so the models are much thinner and a little shorter, and really don't work well with the Greatcoats from what I've seen.

This picture shows it quite nicely, you can see how the arms are much, much thinner than what you get on the Shock Troopers.

You do get plenty of spare heads on the Shock Trooper bodies that you could put on Cadian weapon teams, maybe do a bit of GS work.
