I just bought into this game after a test game with my brother. I bought the starter, an A-wing and a Tie Fighter. So I'm looking into what else to buy.

I was thinking of

Academy Pilot
Academy Pilot
Academy Pilot
Howlrunner + Swarm Tactics
Alpha Squadron Pilot
Captain Yorr +Anti Pursuit Lasers

I thought a combination of 5 manueverable fighters along with a tought to kill shuttle might be good synergy and the shuttle's ability to syphon off stress markers from the Tie fighters.

What do you all think?

Quick question - can the fighter get a focus if performing a red manuever and the shuttle takes the stress token?

I'm not prejudiced, I hate everyone equally

Yeah, as Yorr hoovers up the stress when the other ship receives it, you should be able to perform an action.

mini swarm and shuttle is a nice set up. Experiment with some other shuttle builds until you find something you like. Yorr + elusiveness on Howlrunner can be fun, basic Omicron shuttle w/ Vader for cheap crit-factory is nice, gunner + fire control is a buzzsaw, and so on.
