Well, this is a modelling question, sort of.

I'm going in a trip in 2 weeks (driving, so it won't be super roughly handled), and I'd like to take my Stompa with me, along with the rest of my Orks. I would like to make a cheap but decent storage for it. I went to Joann's to look at foam, but the piece of foam I found was $47 and I'm not even sure that was enough foam.

Where can I buy cheap foam, to build a case? I did some googling before posting this, and here are the answers that did not work for me:

1.) Battlefoam: They won't ship anything in 2 weeks.

2.) I don't have a local wine shop or place to get win crates

3.) I don't see a KR Multicase that would work

4.) I have a 4 pistol case, it's not deep enough

That's about all I had for ideas.

Thanks!

Try Wal-Mart in the sewing / crafts section, I got a roll of poly-fil Tru-Foam (tm) for around $10 IIRC. It is about an inch thick so you could make a foam box by using hot glue.

If you built a stompa, you should be able to build a box.

Stop by a local Office Supply Store and get a "File Box" .. I have 2 in cardboard, with a flip lid, and are very crush-resistant. Line that box with the PolyFill foam..

OR.. go to your local UPS store and see what they offer in Bubble Wrap..

2+2=5 for sufficiently large values of 2.

Hobby Lobby, JoAnns, Micheals, all have furniture foam and typically run regular sales. Hobby Lobby has a 40% off coupon available via internet.

The light high density foam at Walmart would be worth looking at:

or this:

I was looking for the foam with the little points in it, hardware / camera stores tend to carry this kind of case which may fit:

I have four of these and can take a beating and with the "pluck foam" and the pointy foam on top to prevent movement it works well.

Good Luck.

All i can think of within that time frame is a nice cardboard box and a nice helping of bubble wrap.

it should be fine so long as you dont stow it underneath anything.

Edit: Though etherway if its very spiky id consider being very careful even with foam. dont wana snag somthing and break a nice model.

I'm on the wrong side of the pond, but local hardware/car supermarket chain sells cheap pyramid foam as 'speaker box / acoustic foam'.

Although being in the Land of the Free (Gun Ownership), you might be better off searching for 'cheap gun case foam'
