Well ive been playing/paint warhammer for the past 8 years or so. I played quite a bit up until about the middle of 5th edition 40k. I still continued to paint and such but never had time to game. I have been playing warmachine for about 6 months now (that's a different story). Anyways, I am going to try out 40k gaming again. My local shop is having a "Slow Grow" league starting at 500 points and going to 2500 over the next few months. I have tons of orks (3000 plus points and their current codex). I don't however have a current rulebook yet. Ive watched a few 6th edition how to play videos and its starting to come back to me. My question is do you guys think I could get by with a 6th edition mini rulebook for the time being or is it too much different than the new 7th edition? I just hate to drop $100+ on a rulebook just to start in the slow grow league again. Any help would be fantastic, thanks dakka!

6th was 6th, 7th is different regardless of the 6.5 edition enthusiasts.

If you expect to play out of your opponents rulebook, knock yourself out.

We'll if you'd like to play 7th edition, you're going to need the 7th rule book.

I couldn't help but be a little put off if someone had to keep scrolling through my iPad rules when I explain a difference between 6th and 7th

Love 7th Edition.

$85 before discount is the price. One way or another, I think you need the rule book, but over the course of many games, Im not sure that investment will look likethat big a deal and it is a quality book.
