So the other day I got me some Vanguard Vets cause they look cool and I needed some of the bits for my chapter master.

Now that I have the figures should I just load them out as assault marines or should I go with real vanguard vets? I never really thought the van vets were all that good, I know they are cheaper now but I'm not sure they are worth putting any points in or not.

Should I run them naked as a more expensive/ better in combat assault squad? Or should I run kited out and run the risk of them just getting wiped before usefulness? Or maybe I should just leave them at home.

Thoughts?

Some people don't like them. Personally I am a big fan but that's mostly because I don't like terminators. When I use them I have a sergeant with a thunder hammer and storm shield, two storm shield chain sword guys and two lightning claw guys. It costs a LOT but they are a lot of fun to try and use effectively.

If you're trying to be super competitive and win tourneys I suggest not using them. If you don't care about winning tourneys go ahead. I've never own a tourney straight up, but I do enjoy winning best sportsman a majority of the time

Magnets.

I think the biggest problem with VV is figuring out what they need to do their job without breaking the bank.

My theoretical, waiting to be painted so I can test on the table, loadout is:

Sarge - LC/SS
One - Power axe/SS
One - BP/CCW, meltabomb
Two - BP/CCW (basic)

Yup anything with frequent load out changes needs magnets. On VV the backback and jumppack are prime candidates for this along with weapons.

I did both arms and the backpack up for all my Vanguard. Even if I’m not fielding them as VV, I suspect they will see a decent amount of table time as members of command squads, vet sarges, and other more mundane roles.

And their arms are going to be all over the place.
