Hey guys, I might be buying a C:SM lot that includes a unit of Night Lords and I can't find any specific rules or stats for them anywhere (I don't have the codex yet), could someone help? I would also like to know if they're worth using...

They don't really have rules/stats on their own. They're just generic Chaos Marines--just with different paint jobs.

So nothing sets them apart aside from their looks? No special rules or stats?

Correct. You can essentially use them as a really fancy looking Chaos Marine or Chosen squad.

Well, that's kinda stupid. You'd think they would at least have some kind of Legion-specific rule to set them apart. Thanks though!

You would think, but a lot of what really sets them apart is stuff that cannot really be represented on the tabletop.

Things like terror raids ruining morale before the engagement, etc.

Why weren't they given a blank debuff to Ld then or remove fearless or ATKNF mechanics from the opposing army ?
That wouldn't be hard to do.

Well the Horus Heresy from Forgeworld has detailed rules and unique units for the Night Lord Legion during the time of the Heresy.
If you're looking to play using Night Lord specific rules it might be worth taking a look at that or working something out with your gaming group to house rule some Night Lord rules.

It's a bit of a balls the various Chaos groups cannot get a version of Chapter Tactics for their various warbands in 40k.

By the 37 keys of Tzeentch,We open the way for our brothers,
By the 1000 whispers of Slaanesh we call to them,
By the 12 plagues of Nurgle we fell their enemies,
And by the mighty axe of Khorne we cut open the world for them!

Welcome to the mess of hipocracy that is the GW design team. When the CSM book came out people asked why they didnt do things like legion tactics and GW responded with it would be far too difficult to make legion tactics. Then the C:SM book comes out and all of the CSM players are upset since they added chapter tactics for SM but no Legion tactics for CSM

It has those two spawn and the 3 oblits and those get used. The rest not so much. Only havocks I ever seen were autocannon armed . The troops are either cultists or plaguemarines , never saw someone actualy use csm not on bikes or elite cult units.
