This errata sums up everything that is wrong with GW these days. They released an errata for a special piece of terrain used in ONE scenario located in a Tau codex supplement. With all the other issues out there, this is the area they are concentrating on? Going through sideline codexes and changing scenario bits for ONE specific scenario? One that can ONLY really be played by a Farsight Enclave and Daemons player? Why?

In an edition where GW is harping on the narrative and telling the players to basically establish the rules of play before they play the game, why would you release an errata for a special piece of terrain that could just very easily be decided by the players before the game? It smacks of total hypocrisy that you would all but demand players make up the rules and forge the narrative, then take a portion of that narrative away from the players by errata of a special piece of terrain.

Obviously, this scenario must be very popular at the GW HQ, and they must play it every day in order for them to have to release this critical errata for it so they could forge the narrative harder.

Well I think they are trying to do mind tricks with people. If you have to work harder to make something work , you feel that it is worth more. I started going to piano class and it was a chore. But now am happy I did , my friend was learning three times as fast with half the work done and even when she loved to play , for her playing piano is just that normal thing everyone does.

GW may want the game to work the same. Two hours pre game talk about what rules work and which don't or how they work . Then five or six hours of forging the narrative , because the games are damn long , seven or more if we eat or talk with each other . one hour getting to the shop or club to play and then one hour to go back. And suddenly one game is one day of life. To play you need to deal with family ,work ,school shoping and stuff. It gets super important. And if it is so important you should be able to pay more for playing it.

I'm really starting to wonder if my definition of "beer and pretzels" is even remotely close to theirs. Mine suggests something ad hoc and casual. I show up with an 1850 army and either beer or pretzels. I find someone else who's got an 1850 army and the item that I didn't bring. Some beer is traded for some pretzels, miniatures are put on the table, and we have a fun 2.5 hours of rolling dice and playing toy soldiers, finish our beers, finish our pretzels, and go home to our wives and kids.

A casual game doesn't involve 4 hours of character backstories before we start playing, two army lists tailored for each other, and an ornate scenario with purpose built custom terrain.

That was the most lack luster FAQ I've ever seen.

Now that being said, how often have we seen two additions to an FAQ within three weeks... unfortunately they weren't meaningful FAQs.
