One Canoptek Scarab in a Swarm

Hereford, UK

Im wanting to start a Necron army and with 7th addition out now, i thought it would be the perfect time to start. So iv just bought the Canoptek Crawlers box set from GW http://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/Canoptek-Crawlers. Its the type of army style i want to go with (plenty of wraiths flying around, spyders causing trouble by making more scarabs and dont forget there stat line is pretty tasty.

Now i wondering where i should go with this now. I want to make it pretty competitive but also good fun to play with. This box set comes to about 1000 points. Im looking at making the whole army 2000 points. What would you think would be a good idea?

Thanks

I don't have a lot of experience with the wraiths, but I hear a Destroyer lord is a popular choice to roll with them. That would be your HQ.

I would probably pick up some swarms as well so you can take advantage of the Spyders spawning ability. You get 3 swarm bases with the Necron warior box set or you can usually pick them up pretty cheap on Ebay if you don't want to have a lot of basic warriors in your army.
Or there are a fair number of alternative models available for swarms. e.g.

You might also want to pick up another Spyder at some point because you can have 3 for one heavy slot.

Also get some troops & some shooting to get use out of the Triarch Stalker's re-rolls. Personally I like Immortals.
