i have a big army of space marines and they are awesome and stuff but there is only one problem-they're not painted.

i have looked in the codex and wiki for some cool chapters and colour schemes to have, but i cant find one, i have tried painting different chapters(one of my own,angels of absolution and the howling griffons)
these are cool chapters but they just don't seem right. i really need a good chapter colour scheme (but not luminous green or something) that i can paint to make my models cool and awesome.

Awesome is in the eye of the beholder. What Chapter design inspires and wows you is purely up to your personal taste. There are tons of established chapters that really cover the gamut of color schemes. It all comes down to what you like, what you want to actually paint, and if the chapter fluff means anything to you or not.

For example, I've always liked the Mentors green and while color scheme. They are an old chapter, dating back to Rogue Trader, but my skills at painting are not up to snuff to make it look good, so I went with another chapter who's fluff and place in the history of the game suited me.

Its a lot of persnol taste, I like black templers as the whole feth the rules we'll be 5000+ strong thing they have going.

There not to everyone's taste but pick the one you like, and no rule saying you have to stick to one chapter, fluff can be modified quite creatively to make quite a few aliences and combined forces work.
