Subject: Question on working with resin models - cleaning

Hey guys, working with my first resin model so I thought to get some advice before I screw it up.
I read about cleaning it in warm soapy water with a brush. I'm doing it now but the end result did not feel that different to me. Just slightly less grimey/oily. How do I know how much cleaning is enough, also, I can't use this grimey test on the smaller parts so how do I check?
I've read that this layer will prevent glue and paint from sticking so I really want to make sure I've gotten it all off.

If you use normal dishwashing soap you should be fine. I do a quick soak in Simple Green (it's a biodegradable degreaser) just to be sure.

I use handwash soap and scrub them with a toothbrush [preferably automatic]

Must it be a long scrub like 20 times per spot or something or does it come off easy? I noticed there was a strong chemical smell which went away after the scrubbing so does that mean that's enough?

It shouldn't take too much effort to remove. Sometimes a plastic/resin piece will almost feel greasy, even though it's completely clean. When you do your "grime" check, do it with a clean, dry finger then check that finger with another clean, dry finger. Any residue? If not, it's probably just a trick of the material. If so, clean it again. Once you've got the big part clean, just use equivalent effort on the small parts and you know they'll be fine.
