I started another thread where I created a profile for what I'd like to see the Emperor's Champion to be and while there definitely was some wishlisting in it, I tried to keep it a somewhat "fair" model. The little bit of feedback I got leaned more towards a cheaper, less killy model so I'm curious; for a "bargain" CC BT character, would you rather have a captain with AA and BB or take the EC?
Here are general pros and cons of both:
Captain + AA + BB = 165pts Standard captain stats, so 4 attacks in this configuration (5 on the charge) swinging at S7 AP 2 at initiative. In a challenge, this guy will reroll all hits and gain the rending USR.
Emperor's Champion = 140pts Compared to captain, -1A/W/BS. Has Fearless USR, must declare/accept challenges, in a challenge he will also reroll all hits and gain USR but he must pick between 2 stances: a) regular initiative and S but rolls to wound of 6 gain Instant Death USR or b) +2S, unwieldy, 2-handed
What do you guys think? Overall I think the extra W and A and the ability to not accept/declare challenges outweighs the minimal chance of getting instant death wounds with the EC, even for 25pts.
Thoughts?
