Well like the title says, the question I have is, are necron monoliths still worth taking or are just not worth their point value?

Not even close. I loved mine. I had three and felt they were iconic. THe issue is, they have a very short ranged battle cannon (which itself isn't very good anyway) and needs to snap fire the other weapons it has.
The best and only tactic I felt worked was the necron shell game where you deep strike two or three onto center board, then teleport warriors into rapid fire range or out of trouble, depending on what you want to do.
The problem is monoliths are slow, lack firepower, and aren't really that durable.

I enjoy it when the enemy has one. They dont tend to do much kill wise and they die hard.
BUT their ability to transport via teleportation is amazing. Deep strike a monolith and you can have hordes of warriors spew out and shoot like mad. Remember warriors can tear up vehicles pretty well and having 20+ come out of a monolith can be devastating.
So it all depends on your style really. I would not rely on them to be big killy things though.

Hmm. Noted.
I wasn't planning on getting a monolith at any point, but pouring Warriors into the middle of the battlefield sounds fun.

I think they're pretty good, they're just overshadowed by some of the other Necron heavy support choices. The main issue with them is that they're dreadfully slow, and so your opponent can often just ignore them. How you deploy matters - you need your opponent to want to get near it, so that you can actually shoot at them (otherwise it's a huge waste of points).
I do think it's a boring model to use, and would never recommend adding it to a Necron army.

If you just want the models on the table, Monoliths are about perfect to run as a Bastion- 4 guns on the corners, big gun up top, 1 access point, large and tall, armor 14.

I hate them personally, I think they're just big ugly boxes with no redeeming features. If you want to dump stuff in the middle of the board, use fliers and despairteks. And Obyron. Because Obyron rocks.

They can work good if you use them right. I had good luck with them in just about every game in 6th that I used them, and they got a minor buff with 7th (like every other vehicle) in that they're now harder to blow up.
As others hav said, they're primary utility is getting units into and out of trouble, and they're method of doing so is slightly better than Obyron or a Veiltek because they can work on a non-vehicle unit of your choice (vs. who Obyron or the Veiltek is attached to).
They also can provide complete line of sight denial for just about any unit, especially if 2 or more are taken.
However, they are indeed overshadowed by other Necron Heavy Support options, and they are expensive points-wise, and money-wise, so I'd think it would be a low-priority procurement for a Necron player, unless of course you really like the model.

Yeah the loss of living metal on these was a bad hit to Necrons
Pros
Telly attack
armor 14? if I remember correctly. In 7th that can be hard to crack
Cons
Short range anti-infantry weapon
Extreme short range anti-armor weapon cause snap-shots
only one true pro I guess

Nope. Forgettable weaponry and a lack of defensive abilities make it a very expensive vehicle that can't achieve much. You're better of using NS for fast transportation. Yep. Been doing this for 6th whenever I needed a bastion. Pretty much the only reason to put one on the table

That is the best use of a Monolith I have heard in a long time.

I've seen Monoliths on 6th and 7th from time to time, and I've witnessed them cause mayhem in both editions. Like with any other vehicle, they got tougher in 7th, due to the new vehicle damage table.
They're THE challenger for the mighty Land Raider.

They have a niche and could have been dreadfully annoying transports with the teleportation tricks from one to another, but the night scythe is so undercosted it completely overshadow it.

1 could be useful w/ 5 warriors/Immortals and 4 attached Cryteks w/ the Haywire staves. Talk about kill a super heavy.
If you use 2 detachments w/ 4 Lords you can attach 4 cryteks to a squad. That is 16 Haywire shots. I cant think of any vehicle that can survive that.
The problem with is a Mono costs 200 pts and you could get a doom scythe for less w/ a super awesome death ray.

If you just want to DS a giant block to move warriors, bring a cryptek of despair, they can deepstrike in the move phase. A 20 man blob is probably just as tough to position as a monolith.

I think monoliths are more "worth it" in 7th than they were in 6th.
The new vehicle rules make them a little tougher, and with the new mission cards you can park them near objectives as they are good at clearing infantry, and you can teleport your warriors/whatever to the objective if its yours, or becomes yours later.
Could do things like park one near an objective you do not need to take, so you can try and stop enemy from taking it if enemy has it, NS drop warriors on an objective you need, next turn if you get the objective near a monolith teleport to monolith to claim. The way cards work if you haven't drawn a card for an objective you don't have, you will draw it in the future
IDK, they still aren't as good as when they first were around, but I think they are better in 7th than they were in 6th.

monoliths have a wonderful utility in 7th as they can deepstrike in and declare they are shooting at up to 4 targets, typically 3 at most though. this can make 3 skimmers jink, as you don't have to declare which one's getting the particle whip, so long as they all get the gauss guns. particle whip could be fired at any of them.

You resolve hits weapon for weapon...and if you buy a monolith for its weapon, you're doing something wrong
Sentry Pylon is cheaper and has a much stronger weapon.

That now has to snapfire vs most targets...
