I've played a good amount of games, but they have been in the privacy of my home against a good friend so outside of a Semi-tie swarm I haven't felt X wing in all of its competitive glory. well that will change shortly, but the reason I am posting is I have an Idea for a squadron and just wanted some input on it.

Kyle Katarn
Veteran Instincts, Blaster Turret, Recon Specialist, Moldy Crow, Hull Upgrade 35pts

Jake Farrell
A-Wing Test Pilot, Chardaan Refit, Elusiveness, Push the Limit 27pts

Garven Dreis
R5-P9, Proton Torpedoes, Shield Upgrade 37pts

the List should be very Focus efficient but I'm just curious on opinions. I plan on playing it once the rebel aces pack comes out, but if there are tweaks that might increase efficiency im all ears.

You can move points around to include Biggs instead of Jake Farell.
That way you can pull some heat off of the focus battery.

Kyle Katarn (21)
Blaster Turret (4)
Recon Specialist (3)
Moldy Crow (3)

Garven Dreis (26)
Proton Torpedoes (4)
R2-D2 (4)

Biggs Darklighter (25)
Proton Torpedoes (4)
R2-F2 (3)
Stealth Device (3)

Total: 100

Stealth Device and R2-F2 on Biggs is a good choice, but R5-D8 and a Hull Upgrade might make more sense since you WILL get hit and that just neutralized 3 points of your build and 1 point of your Agility.

I wouldn’t get rid of Jake Farrell, though. His text states: “After you perform focus action or are assigned a focus token, you may perform a free boost or barrel roll action.” The potential is being able to perform a barrel roll to get an enemy in your firing arc after receiving a Focus token from Kyle and then Boosting out of the arc when you use that token (or vice-versa).

I like what you’re doing there, though. It is really similar to my Rebel Ace Build and for the same reason.

Airen Cracken/Z-95 Headhunter + Concussion Missiles + Wingman (25)
Horton Salm/Y-Wing + R5-D8 + Proton Torpedoes + Proton Torpedoes + Ion Cannon Turret (41)
Kyle Katarn/HWK-290 + Predator + Blaster Turret + Recon Specialist + Moldy Crow (34)

Katarn hands out Focus like a creepy old guy hands out candy. Cracken hits Salm with a free action to post Focus. If Salm is damaged, then he uses the free action to activate his droid and heal himself.

Bad list suggestions are bad.

1. Never run 3 ships in a tournament.
2. Never put anything on Biggs.
3. Have some way to deal with Phantoms be it Roark with an Ion turret, Falcon with Gunner, etc.
4. Have at least one ion turret and one R3-A2 platform.
