Fluffy Tyranid army is obviously easy enough to make, although how to make one that still has some power regarding anti-vehicle abilities. Obviously the chittering horde is powerful enough is melee due to sheer numbers. But tanks always cause problem. Now Carnifexs with duel Heavy Venom Cannons works to an extent but I was wondering what other methods there are.

Sadly you cant even do dual HVCs on fexes anymore. How about mawloc/trygons deep striking in? Raveners could also work for the rending.

If you want fluffy anti tank, I'd say a walking tyrant with Venom Cannon, and one Flyrant. Then one Harpy with a Venom Cannon, maybe a fex with a Venom Cannon. Our only real "fluffy" anti tank is to glance them to death with gants, and that rarely ever works. Otherwise, our "fluffy" anti tank is all units that aren't good at anti tank, like Tyrannofex.

What no love for Zoey? Well maybe she's not the Best, but it is a powerful Lance ...maybe they can work in pairs, and use Powers of the Hive Mind! To sneak into range...

Depends on what you mean by "fluffy" of course. Tyranids spam the battlefield with vast numbers at first, but as a war drags on they use Lictors and the Synapse web to keep tabs on what is putting up resistance and instead start to spam whatever counters that resistance. It is actually fluffy to tailor your Tyranids to counter your local meta as hard as possible :p

Anyway, it sounds like you want to do a stage 2 "spend bodies like bullets" list.

I would recommend an Endless Swarm Formation: 1x Warrior brood, 3x Hormagaunt brood, 3x Termagant brood. The Formation rule is that is any of the Termagant/Hormagaunt broods are wiped out, on a 4+ they are placed into Ongoing Reserves to represent the endless tide of bodies flooding the battlefield.

You'll need a few Primary Detachment troops choices as well (unless you're running Unbound), and in this case it makes sense for those to be more Warriors (long ranged ones at that) which can both camp home objectives and also provide Synapse to returning broods.

Anti-air and anti-tank is a little tougher, but can be done. Winged Tyrants/Crones/Harpies are always good, and Carnifexes too.

Perhaps something like the following?

Primary Detachment (835)

Tyrant, 240
Wings, 2x Devourer, EGrubs

Tyrant, 240,
Wings, 2x Devourer, Egrubs

3x Warriors, 100
Venom Cannon

3x Warriors, 100
Venom Cannon

Hive Crone, 155

Endless Swarm Formation (664)

3x Warriors, 100
Venom Cannon

15x Hormagaunts, 120
Toxin Sacks

15x Hormagaunts, 120
Toxin Sacks

15x Hormagaunts, 120
Toxin Sacks

10x Termagants, 68
7 Devourers, 3 Spike Rifles

10x Termagants, 68
7 Devourers, 3 Spike Rifles

10x Termagants, 68
7 Devourers, 3 Spike Rifles

At 1499 points in total, that gives you 75 'gants/'gaunts, come back on on a 4+ the next turn if they die. It also gives you a fairly decent Synapse web and some Venom Cannons to harass light transports/kill things at range with 4+ saves. You also have some mobility in your two Tyrants and Crone, which between them provide fair anti-armour/air.

TS does not actually need the CAD to be Battleforged, the Dataslate formations keep it Battleforged, but don't get the OS rule.

But in this case, it works okay, I would run a dakkafex instead of the crone, but that is a play style choice.

Some are, but Nids have three "dataslates" of Formations, they help make up for a fairly "meh" codex by a fair bit.

*bursts though room with axe* HEEEAAARRRS JHONNY!!!

Ok you wish for a fluff army with anti-tank?

Bear in mind I don't know anything about the Bug codex..

Here is what I would make for a fluffy list:

2 venom cannon walking tyrants

6 squads of full hormagaunts

3 Venomthorpes

3 squads of 3 Carnifex's

3 Tyrant guard for each Hive Tyrant.

Any additional extras (assuming you have points)

3 squads of 3 zonethropes

3 Hive Crones

Lictors where you can..

LoW? either a Bio-Titan or a Barbed Hirodule

Tactic: ZERG RUSH!!!

with that amount of bodies on the field, it will be hard to target prioritize imo..

Night Lords (40k): 3500pts
Klan Zaw Klan: 4000pts
