Subject: Flaw with the Imperial Shuttle fixed?

When the Imperial Shuttle was first released, the wings didn't fold all the way down unless you used a bit of force (ho ho). However, If you did this, a visible crack appeared in the hull along the join between the top and bottom half.
Well I picked up an Imperial Shuttle today and pleased to report that the wings fold up and down as smooth as you like with no impact on the hull. Either I'm very lucky or they listened to the feedback and fixed the problem.

It was fixed. A few models sneak through with the flaw still but all 'second generation' Lambdas are A-OK. When I finally got around to picking one up it was second gen. Automatically Appended Next Post: FFG, go figure they rock

Huh, even my first gen didn't have this issue. Both of my second gens seem to be fine too.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Not all the first gens had the issue. Not exactly sure when the fix was implemented tbh. I just know it was mentioned that they had addressed it

I just wasn't aware that it had been sorted. I'd wanted one for ages because it's one of the iconic ships, but had been put off by the alleged flaw.
Finally, having a watched a few guides on how to fix the problem, I decided to buy one and attempt to sort it myself.
I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the box and moved the wings

I love the fact that FFG aknowledges the flaw and corrects it......instead of trying to sell you sub-standard tools, at premium price, that will fix it.

The two I have had the flaw but, with a little work, a friend of mine was able to get the wings on both to deploy in the proper position. In fact, he was so good at it, all of the other players at my FLGS went to him to fix their shuttles as well. Amen. I haven't played a game of 40k since X-Wing came out and, even with the release of 7th ed, will not be returning to 40k except for the RPG's by FFG.

When you say he fixed the wings, what exactly do you mean by that? Does he take them apart? I find that if I gently force it, the wings will deploy properly. But now I'm afraid to fold it up again as I don't want to constantly put pressure on the wings.

Here's the best guide I've seen on how to do it. Not for the faint hearted!

Yeah, I think I saw that guide already. Definitely too afraid to try that out.
I followed this for a temporary fix:
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/1038612/lambda-shuttle-wings
Basically, just carefully forced them down and hoped for the best.
I'll probably just leave them down... forever.

IIRC he held the fuselage of the shuttle where the wing is attached tightly between his thumb and forefinger to keep the fuselage from opening up and then gently worked the wing up and down till it would deploy in the proper position.
