EM4 as a great company with a lot of good stuff, including lots of great old lines of miniatures (mostly Grenadier future warriors and Fantasy warriors) that scale up pretty well with current 28mm figures.

They've also got a fair number of plastic offerings including dwarfs, orcs (only a few poses, but still...), Battlelemechs, Spaceships and a ton of really affordable bases.

As to the Spacelords figures Don't be fooled by the initial look of the figures. Most Metal Magic (the company that first released them) minis are actually quite good sculpts and paint up really well. They're definitely as well sculpted as what GW was putting out in the same era.

Size wise, they are on the small side of 28mm (sole to eye), but nice figs nonetheless. I've owned the majority of the entire Metal Magic Spacelords line at one point or another, but ended up selling them when I was trying to downsize the number of projects I had.

I really hope this works out, because these are minis that deserve to be available.

Spoiler:
]I love those space beast men.

They're best painted in a heavy black line style with bright highlights. Like these RT era orks:

those are very nice not-Orks, even today.

I'm pretty sure are actual actual Space Orks. I think I might even have a couple of them. They are all Citadel miniatures, though I think a few of them may have been sold under the sub-brand "Marauder".

Is the bald space pilot lady a GW sculpt though?

Maybe it is by a sculptor who worked at GW and went on to make some stuff for other companies.

The bald pilot is not GW or Citadel, it (like all the Spacelords miniatures) were sculpted for "Metal Magic", a Geman Game company owned by "Hobby Products". It is however ,possible, that the sculptor did work for GW. I don't know who sculpted them.

Years ago I had an army made of their plastic troopers, I had to replace all the dust buster guns with MP5s but it worked.

I remember those guys. I painted up a squad some years back and had plans to do more, but never got around to it. I kind of wish I hadn't sold the squad and had carried through with building a platoon of them like I'd planned to. Here's they are. Basic plastic figs, with the HW set torsos and SAW, command set arms on the leader, custom packs (IG binoculars) and warzone plastic rifles. Go easy on my paintjobs, it's just block-painting and dip.
