So I am to go up against someone next week with three Heldrakes. I have 2 DE fliers, but i can't imagine a way to do anything about them. With the changes to template weapons to open top transports, I foresee a terrible death in my future! Please help!

Someone playing Helldrakes, Psh! Don't worry, Helldrakes got nerfed, and are terribad now.... Sarcasm aside.

Helldrakes are going to be rough. Two flyers may not be enough. Remember, that getting flamed inside of an open topped transport is actually less damaging than being flamed outside of one.

Make him chase your flyers aiming for vector strikes, it can bait him away from having the 45 degree Hullmountd LOS. Also, take his T2, it's going to hurt, then press forward, his Drakes won't be able to draw LOS if you do it right. Your flyers have their work cut out for them.

If possible bring a couple of Void Ravens or ally in a couple of crimson hunters. It sucks, but the Razorwing with it 2 standard dark lances just isn't going to cut it against the Heldrake. Anti-air is one of the biggest weakness in the DE codex thankfully we can ally with eldar to make up for it though.

Or bring some orky friends to sit in the backfield with Traktor kannons....

DE struggle hard against tough fliers. AV 10 ones are no real issue, but AV 12 ones are a PITA.

The Viletide: Daemons of Nurgle/Deathguard: 7400 pts
Disclples of the Dragon - Ad Mech - about 2000 pts
GSC - about 2000 Pts
Rhulic Mercs - um...many...
Circle Oroboros - 300 Pts or so
Menoth - 300+ pts

Or just use Void Ravens. Really your best bet is hopefully go after him and get shots first. Out smart him in the dogfight with good movement. Hopefully he will be too busy dogfighting to worry about lining up ground targets. I personally hate allies but the elder ally with crimson hunters is worthwhile just for added aircraft. Or simply choose not to play him. I still wont play triple drakes unless I use my Legion list.

If you dont short hand your list, Im not reading it.
Example: Assault Intercessors- x5 -Thunder hammer and plasma pistol on sgt.
or Assault Terminators 3xTH/SS, 2xLCs

Leave the fliers at home, the drakes VS aren't scary to anything on the ground anymore. You won't be able to avoid getting flamed but D6 hits in a transport is not that bad especially considering they won't be taking any moral checks. Otherwise just maneuver to minimize the number of turns the drakes can flame. Drakes used to be scary to DE cause your AV10/11 vehicles would've been torn to shreds by D3+1 VS hits every turn, now its a measly 1 hit. Play it cool and your opponent has spent over 400 points to kill much less than that in kabalites.

Unless he completely ignores your fliers like I would, and just goes straight for your Transports, then pops into hover mode and cleans up your back field...

Then you have problems lol

While doing D3 VS on your paper planes on his way there....

If he manages to bring them on after you, they're going to be a handful.

Don't ally, just bring a Firestorm Redout. Two quad Icarus lascannons. 96" range.

Even though it's BS3 it's twin linked. You're most likely gonna get the hits.

200pts base is not too bad

This is a good call, plus can house some kabbies too.
