Trying to figure out the minimum age that someone could become an inquisitor? And does the experience of an inquisitor determine the scope of forces he can requisition? Also when declaring a planet for extermination is it as simple as a inquisitor saying so and the planet then gets blasted.

It's all about politics and influence. Inquisitors are made, and it varies form individuals; some may take years, others, decades or centuries.

As for the forces he can requisition, again, it's all about influence and connections; you can be pimpin' bad ass Inquisitor X, if you alienated everyone you met, 'pretty sure you'll have you face in front of closed doors at every turn you need something in particular.

Exterminatus is used when the planet is lost or to be denied to the enemies of Man...And the Inquisitor is destroying a planet, a vital Imperial resources, he'll be questioned and his action scrutinized by his peers; if he done so because 100000 Eldars were on the planet, he's gonna get the axe. If he done it because 80% of the world was turned into a warp infested hell hole, then his peers will accept his decisions (thought his opponents might demand why didn't he asked sooner, send more troops etc etc..Exterminatus is of the last of the last resorts)

He would also need a ship carrying an Exterminatus weapon, which is not alot.

Well you have schola program/acolites however it depends if they have good contacts too, saving a inquisitor lord would stand you in good stead when the time came to be promoted to full rank.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
A acolyte of a famous figure for example may get a advantage over lesser member of another's entourage.

To be promoted to full rank depends on when judged ready, some juast a few years, others may take decades, or some may never be ready, I think its a inquisitor lord or the agreement of 2-3 lower ranking inquisitors to grant full inquistoria seal and powers it represents.

Some get rank on death of master, there unique and each one has a unique progression to the ranks of ultimate power..

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all.

Codex: Adepta Sororitas talks a bit about the Schola Progenium. By the time a Progena reaches early adolescence they will have displayed skills in a specific direction and be tutored towards a particular Imperial organisation. Most go on to become scribes or clerks, but others will be recruited into the Adepta Sororitas or the Inquisition or Officio Assassinorum or as Commisaars etc.

Codex: Inquisition talks a little about recruitment as well. It basically says that recruitment is very ad-hoc and left up to an individual Inquisitors judgement (subject to peer review of course, as all Inquisitorial matters are). It also says that while there are no actual criteria for recruitment, proof of loyalty and intelligence are generally the key factors and that these are best judged on someone slightly more mature. It even says that while it might happen that an Inquisitor will recruit an exceptionally talented teenager, it's not a common practice.

I would recommend you reads the Dark Heresy core book from FFG. It goes quite in depth on the =][=. I'll probably post something later.

Wasn't Ravenor fairly young when he became an Inquisitor? Also Eisenhorn was pretty young. I can't remember Eisenhorn's age in the first book, but certainly by Inquisitor standards he was young. Some very experienced Inquisitors live for a few centuries.

There is no formal training program or style for Inquisitors, it's more like an apprenticeship. If someone was particularly gifted or talented enough, and started young enough, they could probably reach the rank of Inquisitor in their early adulthood.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.
