So yeah I thought this was kind of a quirky question in regarding Chaos Focus
Chaos Psychic Focus
If a Psyker has a Mark of Chaos or is a Daemon of a particular Chaos God (see Codex: Chaos Space Marines or Codex: Chaos Daemons), that model automatically knows the primaris power of the discipline that corresponds to their patron deity, in addition to any other powers it knows.
It doesn't tell you which book to take from. It gives you two choices. Now of course you'll say well it corresponds to the gods chart in their book. Yeah , uh no. It doesn't actually say that it's just here look at these two books for your Chaos Focus dude, Peace I'm out.
Also, you could make the argument that you get both. It's not a either or it's just like hey look at this for your primaris powers never clarifying which one you take. I just thought it was kind of quirky and funny.

I don't have the Daemon or CSM books, but here goes:
Does the CSM codex say that a CSM psyker with a mark of <god here> has access to powers from the Chaos Daemon codex?
Does the Daemon codex state that you may use powers from the Chaos Space Marine codex?

Its a decent argument however the issue is that this doesn't give you any correlation on who takes what from where.I don't really think it works that way , i just thought it was kind of weird.
It would in fact imply that you can in fact take from either of those if you in fact just have a Mark of Chaos. I can't think of another unit in the game though that has a Mark of Chaos and is not in those books though.

Again, I don't have either 'dex, but I believe it tells you in each unit's respective codex where to generate powers.
Regardless of the general rule presented, the Codex one would take precedence.

If a Psyker has a Mark of Chaos corresponds to the first entry in parenthesis and the Daemon of a particular Chaos God refers to the second entry in parenthesis.

It plainly clear what they mean when they are referring to the codex. What is your confusion?

Nothing really, just thought it was weird to write it that way. Also parenthetical s are not suppose to be used that way.
