The centre of a massive brood chamber, heaving and pulsating.

**NOTE** This army was originally posted to Warpshadow. Decided to post it here too. This was originally written up in 6th using the double force organization chart rules, but I'm pretty sure it should still work in 7th.

Also, the whole thing is in this ridiculous "Magos report" style. Sorry if that makes it hard to read- I got carried away with the fluff...

Decided to write up a 2500 list. It's mainly close-ranged, relying on large amounts of Hormagaunts and Termagants backed up by the biggest, nastiest Monstrous Creatures available. Also starring everybody's favourite new build, the Templant, except pimped out even more into a mega-death-beast.

I'm a casual player who prefers fluffy/friendly games, but I'd like your feedback nonetheless.

Also, for gaks and giggles I decided to write this as an Adeptus Biologis report.

[**INFORMATION REGARDING MAJOR FORCES OF HIVE FLEET GOLIATH**]

[[Adeptus Biologis official document. Not to be viewed by any beneath Inquisitorial Clearance Level 5.]]

Thought for the Day: There is no emotion as pure as hatred.

To Inquisitor Braun:

As you may be aware, this Hive Fleet recently emerged from the Halo Stars, and has been plaguing the Western arm of the Imperium. We have already lost approximately 30 worlds to its advance, and at the Fleet's current rate of progress it will consume hundreds more within the space of a decade. This particular Fleet's point of entry to the galaxy is also the closest recorded to Holy Terra. Worse still, its current course is in the direction of the Eye of Terror. Research on the effects of direct Warp exposure to Tyranids is still very limited, and me and my colleagues fear that if the Hive Fleet ventures too close to the Eye, the resulting mutation could give birth to an abomination far more foul than anything previously encountered. This document contains information regarding the most commonly sighted major war organisms deployed by Hive Fleet Goliath in large scale battles with Imperial forces.

HQ:

Hive Tyrant subgenus designation “Blightwing”:
Hive Tyrant with Wings, Lash Whip and Bonesword, Miasma Cannon, Norn Crown, Toxin Sacs, Regeneration, Adrenal Glands and Dessicator Larvae: 350 points.

[Notes: This genus has been shown to be an extremely dangerous foe. It demonstrates remarkable resilience despite the compromise in armour one would expect from a flying creature, and is exceptionally well armed, equipped with symbiotic swarms inside its chest cavity and an as-yet unidentified bioweapon configuration consisting of a segmented, spine-like whip (showing similarities to the well-known Bonesword biomorph) and a peculiar ranged weapon which sprays a highly caustic mixture of digestive fluids, enzymes, and organic abrasives. In addition, it has been shown to have a highly overdeveloped synaptic organ, allowing the beast unprecedented control over its minions. Highest priority is to be given to the destruction of this creature- anti-air multiple-shot weapons are recommended.]

Tervigon with Cluster Spines: 200 points.

Troops:

23 Hormagaunts with Toxin Sacs: 184 points.

22 Hormagaunts with Toxin Sacs: 176 points.

5 Tyranid Warriors, 4 with Deathspitters, 1 with Barbed Strangler: 180 points.

25 Termagants: 100 points.

25 Termagants: 100 points.

Elites:

1 Zoanthrope: 50 points.

1 Zoanthrope: 50 points.

1 Venomthrope: 45 points.

1 Venomthrope: 45 points.

1 Venomthrope: 45 points.

[Note: These support organisms appear to distribute themselves amongst the Tyranid swarm, offering the widest possible area of support. Recommend flamer weapons for disposing of Venomthropes.]

Fast Attack:

Hive Crone: 155 points.

Heavy Support:

Carnifex Formation designation “Grinder Brood”:
Screamer-Killer brood led by Alpha Carnifex designation “Onibaba”:

3 Carnifexes with Bio-Plasma, 1 with Crushing Claws and Stranglethorn Cannon: 450 points.

[Notes: In a curious display of cunning and strategy from the Xenos, these creatures are utilized as often as a terror weapon as actual combat units. Reports have shown that all except the most disciplined Guardsmen failed to maintain cohesion in the face of the broods, turning all attention to destroying the creatures or simply fleeing. Thus, large amounts of firepower were drawn away from arguably more important targets or wasted altogether. The broods have proven to be highly effective against heavy infantry, as the small garrison of White Scars stationed on the agri-world of Utrenis IX discovered to their detriment.]

Mawloc: 140 points.

Tyrannofex subgenus designation “Harvestman”:
Tyrannofex with Acid Blood, Dessicator Larvae and Regeneration: 230 points.
[Notes: Harvestmen should be engaged at long range; their weaponry is short-ranged but extremely dangerous, and in addition to possessing similar regenerative capabilities as the Blightwing, their blood is highly corrosive and easily capable of burning through ceramite, Heavy ordnance essential to guaranteed destruction of these creatures.]

I urgently suggest a 150% increase in Imperial Guard garrisons in all worlds in the path of this menace, specifically armoured regiments. In addition, increased Astartes presence would do a great deal to improve both defensive capabilities and morale.

The Emperor Protects,

Magos Gavier.

I think if you switched the 2nd flyrant to a walking one with 2 or 3 Tyrant guard it would be better, but looks pretty solid. Nice saturation.

If you make one of your termagant broods 30 models you can take that Tervigon as a troops choice...Objective secured 5 wound MC that spawns more units of objective secured termagants that you can out flank with thanks to hive commander is hard to go past.
Also it think you would be better off swapping out at least a couple of your bioplasma fex's for dakka fex's for the extra range/volume of fire, plus they get to overwatch.
Maybe you could drop the CC fex and for the same points get a lictor brood? They are great for dropping onto objectives if you are going to be playing them this edition.
Otherwise it looks like a fun list, lots and lots of models to be moving around tho.
