I was wondering if people thought that a fantasy model would look fine with a combination of colors from these lines. I understand that the game color and citadel is a lot brighter with regard to pigments, and was wondering if this would look funny on a model that also had colors made from model color?

Short answer - yes, it will look fine, especially after you varnish it.

Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

Unless you use a combination of bright yellow and OD on the mini I don't see any bad contrast.

The remarks on the brightness are imho more about the lines in general, you can pretty much achieve the same thing with all the lines.

If you look at the first page there you have bright and vibrant colors even from the Model Color range. And the paints are for the most part interchangable so you could mix and match as you want from the different lines.
