This is a thematic steel legion list. I am just wondering if the loadouts are good enough for semi-serious play. Exterminators are just there t act as stopgaps for stuff I don't have (AA, short range AT), Vet squads are there to make use of medium to long range fire support and general annoyances to anything that isn't a tank. Autocannons are taken for the vets to shoot MC's since I think AT is well covered by the medium to long range vanquishers and short range exterminators. Looking at the list, All of the tanks are self-sustaining with enough firepower to kill specialised targets while the infantry has the ability to make use of medium-short range weaponry.

Might as well shamelessly self promote myself here while asking for advice. The list is mostly complete minus the exterminators and the 30 men + slight heavy weapon conversions. Link is below.

All Drop pods list would eat your lunch, and it's possible to get lucky with a first turn Eldar list, I think you should do very well against most armies. I think its a fairly even balanced list. Psykers may haunt you as well

You will struggle like hell to pop heavy armour.

I use an exterminator with the same loadout and they are spot on the money for ruining light transports, serpents, chimeras etc, yes they have a pair of meltas but it's not too reliable on bs3 and it's a dangerous range for an av10 backside. They are a wonderful AA supplement however.

Vanquishers... even if 1 is bs4 its' too little for too much. If anything, it's the ap2 that hurts them. They still need a 6 to explode on a pen where as meltas can do it on a 5.

I'd drop the weapons on the vet squads and load em up with 2 meltas. they can finish off heavy stuff that the Vanqus hit early on whist the'r transports work on anti-infantry.

Thanks for the reply guys. I don't mind changes in the list to make it more TAC style. If anything, what should be swapped out to increase its effectiveness?

I've seen someone else run 2 vendettas in place of 2 vanq and 1 exterminator, is that a good trade? Also, for people playing pod lists, what is the usual tourney alpha strike for it? I expect 2 tanks dead when the pods hit but is it more?

I actually had the MMs on the exterminators to make them a TAC tank for a cheap price. The 40 pts spent there are mostly to make sure heavy armour doesn't stroll in to my troops. Also, is this list bad against heavy armour? I have 4 las cannons, 2 MM and 2 vanquisher cannons. Isn't that enough to go against most armour lists? Usually there wouldn't be more than 3 heavy tanks for any army aside from imperial guard but I'm no expert on knowing this so I'm open to suggestions.

I have 2 more spare demolisher models unpainted that were originally part of the silly 8 tanks spam at 1500 pts. Since my battle tank model turrets are swappable due to magnets I can put whatever I want on them. The executioners are done in however so I can't change what they have (not enough magnets).

Sorry to nitpick but I'm not a fan of flyers so I wouldn't use one in the game no matter it's effectiveness. Coming back from 4th ed, I love the IG tanks hence the list. As for the infantry, I have some HWT teams that I will magnetize to allow swaps but steel legion models do not have a melta model so some conversion is in order.

You have a lot of anti-tank but will suffer against larger-model armies. At the very least change out the exterm to hull HB, HB sponsons. I'd even change out one of the vends for two wyverns plus some points to play with. You have bulk anti-tank with your melta squads. Change one of them out to plasmas or HF + 2xFs

Psykers will hurt you as will any sort of invisible star but it cant be helped with armor lists :/

Its tough to stop though besides dumping in 3 lv 2 psykers and chucking all the dice at invisible. otherwise you will nearly never be able to hurt it.
