Hey everyone! I've stumbled in FW's download center into an army list for Tyrant's Legion and I was wondering what do people think about it.

Here's the link: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Downloads/Product/PDF/t/Tyrants-Legion.pdf

So, I was rolling around with my.. well.. collection of Space Marines miniatures like Adele in the deep and I was looking for a way to turn them into a full-fledged force. Main issue with me choosing an army is that I'm very fluff-sensitive and I like original ideas. That being said, I was looking for inspirations and found that fantastic Astral Claws paintjob by Mengel Miniatures ( http://mengelminiatures.blogspot.com/2013/11/so-i-dont-know-when-i-got-so-bad-at.html ) and I was mindblown by it. The colour scheme hits my soft spot as I like marines being slightly generic but also characterful at the same time. And so I finally decided how I want to have them painted but the army list idea still was elusive. I was thinking about running them as a Drop Pod list using Salamanders' Chapter Tactics(especially that it is not known whose successors the Astral Claws are), but then I ran into that Tyrant's Legion army list and started wondering "Why not go 100% Huron?", I mean.. I already wanted to use his chapter's colour scheme, so why not just do his army? Especially that I can always run them as regular C:SM Drop Pod force should I ever face a player that is not keen on Forge World's stuff.

Which leads to the main issue here. Despite the sub-par chapter tactics, the army strikes me as a wee bit overpowered, given the fact that it has access to all the loyalist FW goodies in addition to Space Marines and Imperial Guard units. That basically lets people cherry-pick anything they want and combine some of the Space Marines' cool special weapons with cheap scoring IG units and powerful artillery in form of FW's Medusa. While I don't expect anyone to be too familiar with that army list, I'd like to ask two things of you, guys.

First of all - what do you think about it? Going through the 1d4chan tactica page of the Legion it seems that it's not really that overpowered as it loses some of the good stuff from both Codexes it uses. Hell, I'm surprised there's even a tactica page on that! So, could some of the more veteran players go through that army list and tell me what do they think about it? All I want is personal opinions, although any comparisons and ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Second - would you and your local community agree to play with someone with that army? And I feel like I really have to say it because I've seen that stupid comment come up so many times in various threads, so let me bolden it for those that can't really grasp that idea of a simple question: I am asking you, guys, to know -your- opinions. It doesn't matter that you are not a part of my local community, I know they can have a different opinion. Don't worry, I'll ask them too! Hope that's clear enough. It really pains me to see how many times people write "ask your buddies, not us!" when they explicitly ask for their opinions on the matter.

Any comments are appreciated.

The list is terrible. Total garbage. I was an Astral Claws player but have since stripped most of the army, leaving only a small 2k force for fluffy battles. They were tough to play before, but different and fun. With the addition of allies the list lost a lot of its luster; with the 6e changes to its chapter tactics and bringing a few of its units in line with other codexes/lists we lost all but one of things we did better than other lists. AC have a mandatory troops unit that isn't good for anything other screening for tac marines, a manditory HQ unit that does nothing for us, the bikes are worse, the elites choice is subpar compared to every other elites choice and doesn't even have an elite statline, the Corpsetaker is absolutely worthless, the renegade marauders a joke. The one single advantage the Astral Claws have is that their tac squads can have up to 20 SM and can take 1 missile launcher for every 5.

You can build a far better, more competitive list with the SM codex and allied AM.

Is it really that bad? Kinda sucks because I dig the fluff and the idea of a combined army.. Guess I'll have to settle for regular SM + AM allied army list then.
