I need some clarification on using the Jokaeros, especially their "2" result:
2 - Improved Gun Sights: All non-template shooting weapons in the unit
have their maximum range increased by 12".


I was relatively content with 36" Boltguns, 48" Plasma Canons and 60" Lascanons, but doubts then ensued with the RaW legality of these:

20" range Frag/Krak Grenades, Arm strength?
18" range Inferno pistol (Melta, Pistol) so basically becomes a Meltagun?

And then how that rule would work for the Conversion beamer. It states "their maximum range", but the Conversion beamer is 3 profiles, so do all the maximum ranges increase, or only the 72" becoming 84"?

Conv beamer is a blast does it work on blasts? Blast is a template no?


The grenades would work. The Jokaero added a an anti grav chip or propellant to the grenade.

Yes, Grenades are increased to a 20" range. As is the inferno pistol.

The Conversion Beamer has one range - 72". It just does different things at other ranges (similar to Rapid Fire). The 12" just makes the farthest band even farther.

Depends on how "shooting weapon" is defined. I don't believe a grenade is a shooting weapon. I believe it's a grenade that can be used to make a shooting attack.

A template weapon is like a flamer, frag cannon, d-scythe, etc.

Blasts markers are not Template weapons. (Template weapons have Range:Template in their profile).

Got it -it's still one profile, just 0"- 18"- 42"- 72" becoming 0"- 18"- 42"- 84"

P108 does start with "can be used to make shooting attacks" and all grenades are "shooting attacks".

Codex has no FQS though, so unsure about this one?

It definitely still applies to grenades. A weapon that you can make a shooting attack with is a shooting weapon.

Hey, could be worse! In the last edition, it also applied to Witchfires!
