Ok so how about this for the loadout 2x axe, 1x chain fist and for the champ duel lighting claws. With mark of khorne. and I still feel the combi metla could be helpfull.. like I can disembark pop there tranport and assault the guys inside....and for the heavy support how about 2x obliterator and 2 defilers or 2 predator with autocannon and side sponsors lascannon

what you think ??

If Abaddon is going with Terminators then Mark of Slaanesh with Icon of Excess is a nice choice to give Abaddon feel no pain.

If you take oblits make them nurgle to avoid any strength 8 insta death.

I like forge fiends over defilers. Or even mauler fiends(might work better with your list) if you can find a way to give it invisibility(Be'lakor is a good choice here).

I also think duel lightning claws are really expensive on a single terminator. Take the free power axe's and maybe one chainfist(melta bombs or combi meltas can provide the same function at a reduced cost points wise).

Also one super awesome thing about abbadon, he cannot turn deamon prince or spawn on the chaos boon table so what I like doing is putting a term sorcerer of tzeench in the unit giving him free boons every turn. The sorcerer is also there to take down anything that might happen to scare abbadon(monstrous creatures since he can force weapon kill them).

True but also its good to have it shoot another targets that imma need to kill while they get to shootl and assault .another thing.. and it can be as a back up plan if the lascannon fall to destroy the target.. yeahh I agree on that one two the feel no pain on termi is really nice

Eye of Terror

I played Black Legion from the time it was released under 6th edition, and (going by what people say about it online) may be one of the few people who actually had success with it.

I never built an army around Abaddon, but that was because I got good results with a jump pack CL w/ MoT. He was loaded down with artefacts that gave him a ton of attacks and a 3+ invulnerable save rerolling 1s. The basic principle is the same, though: having a hard hitting HQ choice who reliably gets into cc each game, and make sure everything else reinforces what he is there to do.

Here are some suggestions for how to build a list around BL that would be semi-competitive and uses Abaddon.

1) Take Abaddon (naturally).

2) Take a Spartan Assault Tank from Forgeworld. You would want to use this instead of a Land Raider for 2 reasons. First, it has an upgrade that allows you to ignore the melta rule (which means it's very hard to kill, even for Eldar and Tau). Second, it has an upgraded transport that lets you carry up to 25 models. If you have the money for the model, it's worth it, although I have been able to do counts-as with a normal LR before I had the model.

3) Upgrade the Spartan as you like. Extra guns are almost necessary: a heavy flamer and some missiles can make sure the thing is going to stay in the game even if you start getting weapons destroyed.

4) Think about what dedicated melee unit is going to pop out of the LR with Abaddon when he gets there. Terminators are a fine choice, but Chosen are really the best thing to bring. I got the best results with a large squad of MoS Chosen with IoE and 5 flamers. You might want to consider them because a) they are going to have more firepower than Terminators, b) they have that extra attack in cc, and c) they are going to hit at higher initiative than most opponents.

At this point, you will have spent at least 750 points on an HQ, a vehicle, and a single squad of troops. This will be an awfully good unit that is hard to take down and has the firepower to take out just about anything. At the same time, your opponent is going to spend most of his time shooting at it, and this creates some other opportunities for the rest of your army. You should focus on units that are going to compliment what you are doing with this squad and avoid investing points in anything that takes away from that.

For pure BL armies, it's really important to build around your main beatstick - pick things that are going to keep up with it and expand what you are able to do once you get across the board. Here are some suggestions on how to choose.

1) Using Rhinos is a safe idea, in general. Most of your opponent's big guns are going to be focused on the Spartan, which you can use to shield any Rhinos behind it. They can also act as a shield for the occupants once they drop everyone off.

2) Taking extra squads of Chosen with plasma or flamers is generally a good choice. You want units that are going to make a quickly make a big dent in an opponent's force. The thing about Chosen is that they can have great firepower and be great in cc, that kind of versatility is important.

3) Spawn and Bikers are great choices, they are going to be able to keep up with the Spartan and get into assaults. I tend to favor Spawn over bikers because you don't have to pay for VoTLW on them, which can add up.

4) Large squads of Noise Marines do better in armies like this, they can usually disembark from a Rhino and start shooting things up immediately. They are also going to be able to handle cc well, and this versatility is important in a BL army.

5) Heldrakes. Despite the 7th edition nerf, they seem capable of getting stuff done. Statistically, they have the best chances of coming in right when you are starting to assault all over the place.

6) Predators, Helbrutes and Comtemptor dreadnoughts are also good choices. Set them up to be shooty and start shooting things. Don't try to use them for close combat, you already have something that does that better than they ever could. I had a lot of success with the Conversion Beamer combined with the Eye of Night. They have the potential to wreck a lot of vehicles on the first turn.

7) Sorcerers, attached to whatever other troops you choose. Some of the BL artefacts make them monsters on the battlefield.

8) Warpsmiths. Having one in the Spartan just to do repairs can be a big deal.

9) Forgefiends and Defilers. Again, for the long-range shooting. I never made much use of them but could see how they would add something here.

Some of the things that never really worked well for me, but seemed like they would:

1) Cultists. They are fine, but they get a lot more expensive when you add in VoTLW without adding too much to the offense.

2) Obliterators. They are fine, but generally you want something that is just there to blow up enemy tanks from range. This means all lascannons all the time, not every other round. Consider Predators instead.

3) Plague Marines. They just don't have enough offense to really get the job done, and this isn't the kind of army where you camp out on objectives and expect things to work out.

4) Fortifications of any kind. You are there to move in close and blow things up, not stand back and watch.

All that said, enjoy building your army. I don't play 7th edition and have no clue how well this all translates. My assumption is armies like this are going to do well in Maelstrom of War missions, since they are very mobile and are designed to wipe out opponent's units in a single turn. This should give you increased opportunities to seize VPs for about 60% of the cards in the deck on any given turn.

I make the nurgle bikers at 224 points each. Have you remembered the compulsory veterans?

The list looks sound otherwise.

I would love to try a Spartan as suggested, but they are very expensive.

Im crazy, so would probably swap the predators for maulerfiends, and to hell with shooting :-D
