Update: 7-11 A portal opens in Vildeburg, Tharks and Barbarians face off in the ruins, and lots more!

Last week was the first day of our club's annual summer Song of Blades and Heroes Campaign. As last year, the setting is the lands of Qaarra, however the timeline has advanced a bit and things are looking grim. You can see a bit of background regarding "Quake and Mourn" here;
http://chicagoskirmish.blogspot.com/p/quake-and-mourn-song-of-blades-heroes.html
One of the battles was already written up in detail here...
http://chicagoskirmish.blogspot.com/2014/06/quake-and-mourn-campaign-raid-on.html
...but I've now put up a brief writeup with a few pics of the rest of the games a summary of the participating war bands and the current standings of the campaign participants. This year we're having the players of each game fill out a brief record sheet detailing:
-Who Played
-What Scenario
-What Location
-Results of battle
-Results of post game Exploration roll
We had 7 players in attendance and most players played 2 games that evening.
You can read the report here…
http://chicagoskirmish.blogspot.com/2014/06/quake-and-mourn-campaign-session-1.html
…but here are a few pics to whet your appetite.

Nice, I love reading you guys' SoBaH stuff.

Awesome! I was looking into Song of Blades and Heroes, so I am excited to read this!

Nice wide range of models used too! Where are the barbarian looking fellows on horseback from? Those are the only ones I don't recognize, and they look really good!

The Barbarians on horseback are 90's era Grenadier Fantasy Warriors sculpts. They are currently available from EM4 ( http://www.em4miniatures.com/acatalog/Cavalry.html )and Forlorn Hope Games ( http://www.forlornhopegames.co.uk/fantasy-warriors/category/31-barbarians ), or Merliton (in Italy).

I'm a big fan of Grenadier Fantasy Warriors figs. They compare very well in quality and size with 90's era GW but they have less skully bits and IMHO, they still hold up well today.

You SoBH campaigns are awesome! I love the reports and are jealous that you have such a steady group who will not only play, but with painted minis, no less!

Thanks!
It really is a good group. We've been meeting for over 4 years now and SBH was the game we first played. The only-painted-minis thing was one of the things we felt most strongly about. We're all 30 somethings with real lives and limited free time and our unofficial motto could be "life's too short to play with unpainted miniatures". Even as some of us have begun big games like Kings of War, you won't find a single unpainted mini on the tables.

That said, when you mostly play skirmish games of 8-20 minis it's not a hard standard to keep to. Still, we are a very open group. We have enough minis that we're always willing to bring painted armies/platoons/warbands for newbies to play with if they don't have their own.

Our summer Campaign enters it's second session. A few news highlights.

Tharks and Barbarians clashed in a ruined city.

A portal opened up in the city of Vildeburg. Lots of annoying (but ultimately harmless) monsters poured out and had to be collected by the various warbands in the city.

Ronin tried in vain to defend a shipment of healing water stolen from a spring deemed sacred by the elves.

And much more!
Summary of all the weeks battles, results, and pictures here:
