Hey all. I have a quick question concerning the Sons of Horus Legion rule "Merciless Fighters".

Can a model with multiple weapons use a different weapon with their Merciless Fighters attack than the weapon they had attacked with previously?

So for example, Abaddon fighting Loken. Can Abaddon attack at I4 with his Power Sword and then because he is a bulky model and outnumbers Loken, use his Merciless Fighters attack to attack with his Power Fist?

In terms of 7th Edition rules (And I believe it is the same for 6th) the only rule I can find that might be relevant is the "More than one Weapon rule" which states:

If a model has more than one Melee weapon, he must choose which one to attack with when he comes to strike blows

It's very vague as "comes to strike blows" could mean Fight sub phase or Initiative Step. If any knows a more specific rule that would be great.

From the HH side of things, nothing as far as I can see in the Merciless Fighters rules precludes it. The old FAQ might actually stop any model with an Unwieldy weapon from benefiting at all from the rule though that would be a very narrow interpretation given the text in brackets:

Models with Unwieldy weapons do not qualify for extra attacks from the Merciless Fighters rule
(as they have not already fought previously as described in the rule)

If anyone has another take on this, I'd appreciate any input.

By the 1000 whispers of Slaanesh we call to them,
By the 12 plagues of Nurgle we fell their enemies,
And by the mighty axe of Khorne we cut open the world for them!
