I finally got around to taking some photos of my Raptors killteam using the Heralds of Ruin ruleset. These are the first actual space marines I've painted, and I wanted to do something 'classic army men' with olive drab.

The models are anvil miniatures spec-ops marines, which are freaking fantastic casts. The scouts are dreamforge stormtroopers, because I wanted something a little more nimble and 'recon' looking than the chunky GW models. They're not the same scale, but I think they look alright using boltpisols as SMGs.
The entire team consists of a Sergeant, an Apothecary, two Sternguard (one with target, another with auxiliarry grenade launcher), three Scouts with pistols and CCW, and five tactical marines, one with a Heavy Bolter.

Awesome kill team! I love Anvil Miniatures stuff, they're so nice!

How did you paint the armour? The green is spot on for Raptors IMHO.

Great job!

Very well done!

As a Raptors fan myself, I always look forward to seeing another take on the chapter and these are impressive.

The only thing I do not like is the reddish color on the bolters.

I figured I needed something to break up the green and seperate the details a bit, so I decided to try out a 'bakelite' plastic type casing on all the weapons, ala:

The beaky heads on the Anvil bodies look great. Would never have thought to do that. Good work!

Those are amazing! I think I may have to steal those anvil models for my small Scout Army I am making. They look great! throw on some SM heads with some Bolters and I am good to go!

Fantastic!

Great use of the awesome Anvil and Dreamforge models. Those Black Ops models are some of my all-time favourites.

Fantastic!

I should clarify that the scouts are dreamforge stormtroopers, though anvil also has some pretty ballar carapace armoured infantry that would also make for excellent scouts. The dreamforge minis are of smaller proportion to GW models, and end up looking pretty ridiculous with 40k scaled equipment. As you can see, mine are just carrying bolt pistols, and the things are HUGE. Theyre pretty close to eldar scale. So, something to keep in mind.

Even the anvil marines are quite a bit lighter than GW stock (compare them to the heavy-bolter gunner)
