Hi everyone,
I've been shopping around for ork trukks kinda wanting all my turkks to be a little different... the easy three are the default GW kit, and the two FW kits (enclosed cab and half trakk)

For a 4th variant I've been looking for a chassis to hijak... Enter the Taurox... damned fugly thing as an imperial transport.. I laughed quite hard when I first seen it! But I think it would ork up nicely ... my question is this;

If I looted a taurox, is it the right size to be counted as a trukk? or am I looking at looted wagon territory? (simply put dimensions of the taurox vs the avg trukk are?)

A Taurox is a bit narrower and shorter (in length) than a trukk. I think the height would be about the same if you leave the Taurox roof off.

Bulking out a Taurox to trukk dimensions wouldn't be hard - some 'running boards' on all sides (made from deck tread plasticard) and hand rails, representing mek add-ons to make a better assault vehicle after it was looted. Making a longer Taurox would also be a good opportunity to replace those track units with wheels or whatever.

Orks will scavenge anything they think is useful, shiny, or loud. I suppose a Taurox would be two of these three things.

Oh just joking! The Taurox would actually look pretty dope as a Looted Wagon.

Gets along better with animals... Go figure.

Thanks very much, So I could indeed build one to be a Trukk without making it crazy large or small compared to the others.

Edit; something like this perhaps;

Found via google search from http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/user/60504-daklumpn.html

Looks to be a bash of taurox and trukk kits, totally something I could do

Yes, that's the kind of thing I meant, and I rather like the example you found - hadn't seen it before. Not cheap though - it's taking most of two kits, but at least you'd have a whole lot of useful spare bits leftover.

Personally I'd leave the roof off the cab, to better represent that it's an open-topped vehicle, but that may not matter to you, especially if you already have other trukks with covered cabs.

Oh, and I take back what i said before about the taurox not being wide enough - I just checked my unassembled taurox kit, and actually the width is a pretty good match, so length is really the only issue.

my local games workshop threw that one together, a bit more tank like rather then truck like. Would probably look better with a few orks hanging off the sides.

Thanks for all the input guys.
That last one with the rear tracks left on is interesting.

I'm awaiting delivery of the two forgeworld trucks - enlcosed cab, and half trakk variants, and the grot technicians to scatter around fixing up mah gubbinz

So I'm kind of forward planning how to go about not repeating the same trukk. I have 4 units of 12 boyz right now (all different clans too goffs, evil sunz, deffskullz and badmoonz),... the two FW trukks, 1 GW default kit, and a taurox conversion should have those units covered. I dont really mind buying a trukk and a taurox to make it. Il look at the spares off the FW kits though, they might be enough.

When i get to needing a 5th trukk... any ideas? besides a differing taurox conversion I suppose I could do wheels and half track style ones.
How about the FW Elysian Tauros ? or is tht more of buggy?

The Elysian Tauros is a bit buggy, you could add some side panels to it, to try and increase the armour a bit.

You could go for something a bit random, sister of battle exorcist, have an ork playing the organ.

I've seen an ork looted tau piranha which looked good, although not really a truck.

I like the idea of doing a dark eldar raider looted, although might make them seem like chaos orks.

Lots of good suggestions

The Evil Sunz bommer pilot im painting right now agrees

I am trying to steer clear of a rhino chassis...atlest the imperial ones... I just can't see the marines allowing a vehicle to fall into ork hands like that, plus dont they have a machine spirit? I'd make them destroy themselves before being looted...

So I feel silly looting Space Marine vehicles mostly.
Sisters.. maybe. Chaos maybe.
Id like to see a looted Dark Eldar Raider pirate land ship full of flash gitz

Steering clear of space marines is fine, there are already alot of looted rhinos out there - looted land speeder might be interesting, especially a land speeder storm, I can see Orks hanging off the railings.

Necrons dont seem to get looted much - Ork monolith, ive seen a few images online, if I had the time I wouldn't mind a crack at that.

Looted Chimera (or artillery on a Chimera chassis)?

Or you could chop up a battlewagon to make a smaller down-armoured version? Not cheap, but if you're buying FW then I presume price isn't a major issue.

A pity you're in the UK - I'd have no difficulty converting 5 different-looking trukks for you, but I'm on the other side of the planet.

price isnt a major issue... just the more they cost each, the slower I buy them, and the more love each one will get I suppose.

It would be nice to buy a whole bunch of kits for bits stock of the truck motor pool tho I'l see what the wallet says lol

Edit;
Well I've now ordered a Battlewagon, 2 GW Trukk kits, a Taurox, plus the two FW trukks.... I'm going to wait untill I've got all in hand before building anything... so I can use bits form here and there and everywhere. Armed with a good lump of instant mold, a massive bits box, the kits above, and any junk kicking around I'l see what I can throw together. Will post pics
