I recently salvaged a bunch of Ork models from a 30 cent box in the local gaming store, but I had no idea what to do with them. They originally were Warhammer Ork Boar riders, so I was a little restricted in my options.

Eventually I came up with the idea of making some "Ruff Ridaz"; aka Ork Cavalry, for WH40k.
The idea behind them would be that they're more 'feral' Orks, who use the local wildlife to charge into battle. This 'local wildlife' is represented by LOTR Wargs, of which I still had an unopened box (and some I simply hadn't used yet).

So far, I've painted only one out of five, the rest is still waiting for their undercoat.

Hopefully, I'll be able to paint them soon-ish, I really want to see them in full glory

These look quality, good execution. I can't help but feel that your boss would look amazing if you cut the hand holding the horn off and replaced it with a power klaw. Something about an ork riding a huge wolf waving a large metal claw around appeals to me greatly.

Great idea, and the painted model looks great.

Are you going to paint one red? would make it faster!

Could make an interesting scene to have a couple grots painting a warg red.... maybe using a dead imperial although that got dark fast.

I undercoated the one with the big sword and the one wielding a shoota today, I'll try to paint one of those tomorrow.

Sadly, I don't have a power klaw atm, so my captain cannot achieve full Orkiness yet
I'll put off painting him until I find a way to give him one

(if anyone knows a good way to make a power klaw from scratch, let me know!)

EDIT:
I actually got some Grots riders too, so I could put those on a Warg as well; although seeing them try to paint it red would indeed make for a nice scene
Not sure which parts I'd make red though. I guess I could just write "Waaaagh!" on the sides, but that might be a bit tacky

The drybrushing on the Wargs didn't turn out as well as last time, not really happy about that.

But in the end, they're still badass Orks riding intergalactic space Wargs

I'm still thinking of a way to give my captain a power klaw, I found a good tutorial here on DakkaDakka about making one in plasticard, but since I don't have that, I'll have to be a bit more... 'inventive' <insert Painboy reference>

I'm gonna put up a thread about the 500 pt Ork army I'm (re-)building in the other section of P&M, these guys will also show up there.

Got the Captain finished today, managed to make him a nice Power Klaw too
(I got the idea from a post here on Dakka, I'll see if I can find the link again)

I've been having troubles with the guy with the shiv, his hand keeps popping off
I've also swapped his shiv for a shoota (which I accidentally stole from a regular Ork Boy, who doesn't have a weapon now )

On an unrelated note, my Ork army is slowly growing, now also sporting 5 Nobz which still require painting
