Hi all,

I'm looking for any references for converting Eldar and Dark Eldar vehicles towards a Corsair type look. Obviously the dark eldar stuff is easy enough in a way (just remove the grisliest stuff - trophies, skull snares etc) and add some gemmy bits to tie it together. I have some good thoughts, but the bit I am most struggling with is Wave Serpents.

I have two, but they seem so essentially Craftworldy that I am a bit of a loss as to what to do to bed them in better with my pirates army. I'm thinking it's about replacing the serpent shield stuff with something else, but I'm not totally sure what.

I haven't been able to find many good conversions of any kind of the Wave Serpent and just thought if pitot out there to see if anyone can offer any advice...

How to make my wave serpents piratey?!?!

I have no experience with regular eldar, but maybe converting the wave serpent to be more open-topped like DE raiders would help? I don't know how the model goes together, but you could probably leave the back half open (like some desert themed chimeras I've seen online) and then add some piratey things like sails, blades, etc.

I'm also doing a corsair style army. I'd use a normal wave serpent body, stick some spares from a raider on and give it a corsair colour scheme. I'm currenlty trying to do the same with a falcon

Lovely shiny eldars!

Hey darkspawn. Like your Corsairs. See you've been getting some elf heads in there. I've ordered a bunch from various bits factories. And I've started work on the seer council part of my army, using Helions and Elves together. Similarly I'm using Eldar Guardians and Wood/Dark Elf elements to make my Dire Avengers. I've ordered lots of skulls/spinet bits for my Wraithknight and it's just the Wave Serpent I'm stuck on now.

I really hate the Serpent Shield on the stock model. One possibility is adding blades in its stead (I've ordered what I can bits wise to try this). Another thought if had is adding actual shields where each of the Serpent Shield antennae sit. Is this something you guys think might work? Been looking at the various dark elf etc shield types for this...

Gathering the Informations.

I would leave the Wave Serpents alone.

They're enclosed vehicles that like the Falcon are capable of powered flight at high altitudes.

I hear what you are saying about the fluff of the standard Wave Serpent. To be honest, I actually don't like the model that much. I don't like the way the Serpent Shield is portrayed and find that it takes away somewhat from the sleek shape with those weird trumpet like vanes. So choices seem to me to be:

Stick with just the gems (bit boring?)
Add blades (Dark Eldar fins?)
Go with three shields on either side from a fantasy model, to represent the shield projectors (difficult to make them bed in properly)
