I have a nurgle project up and coming in the works and Im doing research on various techniques and styles I want to include on them. I used to use mostly
resin pre-made bases for my stuff but since entering a painting comp, researching and making my own base I've somewhat fallen in love with self made terrain
and basing.
So here is my inexperienced problem.
I don't want my nurgle bases to consist of nothing but slime and puss. I assume bases or the kind of terrain where that would be the case are those planets and
locations to which nurgle has already laid claim to, ones that have been under the influence of decay for a long time where as I want to try and capture the initial
desecration of otherwise lush ground. The initial stages of decay, withering and wilting of life to try and reflect what an initial nurgle invasion might be like.
The idea on the table top would be, you would see the opponents half of the table, based and flocked normally to match the table and then the nurgle, with a similar
style yet decaying, wilting showing the initial signs of corruption
(Not a swamp of sloshing dead plant matter.)
The problem I have is how can I do this and reflect it on my miniatures bases?
Previous self made base that gave me the motivation and desire to do this can be found here:

The kind of ground / base I would like to have.
Some examples:

Maybe even some transition between normal terrain and desecrated terrain. I want them to give them the impression of a slow and purposeful march forward in which
death is can visibly be seen coming with them and consuming the life of that which they leave in their wake.
So avoiding the usual slime and gooey bases of nurgle I was thinking that it would be slightly greened, dark blues mixed in brown to give a sort of 'contaminated' earth type
of feel as my initial thought but beyond that I'm looking for idea's and methods to really pull this kind of basing off with a professional look on everything from 25mm to
big flyer bases.
