With the changes to Interceptor & skyfire and ground targets and the introduction of building hull points, what if any fortifications are still worth considering?

The Aegis is as good as ever for cover saves and no one's going to waste shots on your Skyfire pad instead of what's on it. Bigger buildings certainly took a hit when facing glance-heavy armies like Necrons or Deldar/Tyranids with haywire. But you can score objectives from inside a fortification now, and Stronghold gave them some decent upgrades.

I'm still drawn to the cheap pair of battle cannons using the VWB. Feels like they'd be flexible enough to always have a target and not horribly impacted by BS2.

A bunker with ammo dump costs 70pts, allowing 8 occupants to shoot, rerolling 1's to hit. This makes bs4 almost bs5 and litrally makes bs5, bs10 (think dev sarge). It technically provides the occupants with an immobile 'opentopped' (without the opentopped penalty) av14 vehicle with 4hps. If you were going to take a Godhammer, you can instead take this with a las dev squad. If its IF it gives you tank hunter. Therefore giving you an av14 vehicle with 4hps, 3 bs5 tabkhunting lascannons and a bs10 tankhunting lascannon. For 220pts. Name me a vehicle that cheap with AT that strong. Even better is that when blown up - you STILL have the dev squad!
Or are you fed up with your plasma henchmen+servitors getting smashed out of their chimera? Well put 3 plasma guns, 3 plasma cannons and a hellrifle equipped inquisitor in there for 212pts. Now you have an av14 4hp vehicle which shoots 3 plasma cannon, 3 to 6 plasma gun and 1 hellrifle shot with rerolls of 1 to hit. Bye bye meq!
A bunker with escape hatch (80pts) lets you deploy a unit 18" (plus run if you like) forward from the front of your deployment zone on turn1! Spending on a LR to get your gravcents into range? Not anymore. Sick of Death co getting a turn3 charge without drop pod? Not anymore - 20 of them running out of that escape hatch will worry anyone!
You can get THREE of these in one fortification slot to catapult an assault army forward from the get go!
Got an IH spartan? Put it on a skyshield for an av14 5hp, immune to melta tank with a 4++, 5+ IWND (or 4+ with ironstone), who is also of course being healed by your MotF. Tbf any durable LoW is buffed well by the skyshield.
And as minigun said - 2 vengence weapon battery battle cannons for 170pts is a steal, even if they are a bit random.
And of course as badablack stated - the trusty ADL will always be worth its points. Automatically Appended Next Post: Just realised minigun - you're the one who asked :-p. Oops.

Love the idea of the ammo dump & plasma cannon combination.
Would be cheapish and very scary to infantry or even light armor.

I've made a Void Shield generator for my assault base chaos army. For 100pts (plus 20 for 12" of 4+ cover barricades) it basically means my entire army can hide inside a regenerating 3HP AV12 shell and force the enemy to play on my turf. I stick it in the middle of the board and then run everything into it's bubble.

I'm surprised by how much durability you're getting from 3HP AV12.

I have an unbound 2500 point game coming up and I'm thinking of buying a firestorm redoubt as my anti air.
I'm bringing an unconventional ultramarine list of all armor vehicles.
3x predators
1x sicaran
3x Vindicators
2x whirlwinds
1x land raider Achilles with a thunderfire cannon
2 troops of 6 with razorback TL lascannons
With the 96" range and TL BS3 I think. It would be ok right? Only 200 points.

The normal one is BS2 TL'd.
You can get BS3 if you upgrade to Magos.
For an unbound list, I think three Stalker AA tanks would be a better buy for roughly the same price.

I can't find anywhere that says the normal firestorm redoubt is BS2.
It comes with fully automated fire according to stronghold assault.
If you purchase a Magos for a bastion it's automated fire is BS3.
I don't think you're supposed to purchase a Magos for the firestorm.

Dok grotsnik can take a cybork body as an upgrade but he already has a better FnP
Magos i believe only gives automated fire to a gun that doesn't have automated. Firestorm already comes standard with automated fire and can only fire automated fire.

Don't all purchased fortifications have to be set-up in your deployment zone now?

So we can distill all the wisdom in this thread to the following?
Bunker with ammo dump costs 70pts, allowing 8 occupants to shoot, rerolling 1's to hit. It technically provides the occupants with an immobile 'opentopped' (without the opentopped penalty) av14 vehicle with 4hps.
A bunker with escape hatch (80pts) lets you deploy a unit 18" (plus run if you like) forward from the front of your deployment zone on turn1! You can get THREE of these in one fortification slot to catapult an assault army forward from the get go!

2 vengence weapon battery battle cannons for 170pts is a steal, even if they are a bit random.
Aegis Defense Line will always be worth its points.

Oh, my bad I didn't realize that this had been changed! Well that puts quite the crimp in my aggressive void shield tactic :/
The bunker with escape hatch trick looks interesting though. Seems like a good way to make foot-blobs of slow infantry viable. 20 footslogging CSM popping out of the ground in the middle of the field seems pretty cool.

Just says 'not within impassable terrain or inside another building". Other than that, it gets placed when the building is occupied, so during your deployment if you start a unit inside the building, but because the hatch is not a unit, I don't see any reason why it couldn't be placed up to 12" upfield.

If you exit from the escape hatch, you cannot assault.
Vengeance Weapon Batteries are expensive; however, they work REALLY well now that claimed buildings score. If you find yourself with an objective in your deployment zone, drop a VWB on it and it's controlled by a building that has to be destroyed (not just weapon destroyed) in order to clear it - or you have to get a unit with Objective Secured close to it.
Bunker and Bastion are both very effective. Bunker gained a boost now that you don't have to worry about your opponent placing a piece of terrain in front of it.
Something else that's somewhat up in the air is, since the building rules state to treat them as vehicles, can Meks, Techmarines, and the likes repair buildings. If so, there's a lot of fun that can come from putting lootas with a Mek or two in a Redoubt :-D.
Skyshield is still as broken as ever since it counts as difficult terrain.
One last thing that I have found to be surprisingly good in a handful of situations is the Prometheum Pipe Relay. Running Orks, putting a full squad of Burnas behind it is just down-right nasty. Rumor is that the official model will be released last July/August.

Yeh there is no assaulting out of escape hatches - that would be insanely broken!
For an av14 85pt battle cannon, I think that VWB are very cheap. Especially when you can take 2 without taking up any HS slots.

Problem with a redoubt is that only 6 of the lootas could shoot.
